Readathons

1. Adventure-a-thon: March 25 – 31

This readathon was created by Jasmine from Novel Thoughts. This readathon looks like SO much fun! If I wasn’t burnt out on readathons, I’d definitely be participating in this one. This readathon has a map with reading prompts. The map has different routes for different teams, which you earn points for.  Check out their Twitter for the map and full readathon details!!

New Releases

1. The Mighty Heart of Sunny St. James by Ashley Herring Blake

This is my only anticipated release this week, and I’m really hyped for it. Ashley Herring Blake’s last book, Girl Made of Stars, made my favorites list in 2018. This is a middle grade book about a young girl who is navigating heart surgery, reconnecting with her mother, and growing feelings for another girl.

2. Sky Without Stars (System Divine #1) by Jessica Brody

This science fiction novel is low-key on my radar – if I get a sci-gi urge, I may pick this up. This is a romantic, sci-fi retelling of Les Misérables.

Reading Update

Recently Finished

1. The Test by Sylvain Neuvel ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is novel written by the same author who wrote the Themis Files series (which I started, haven’t finished, but really liked!). It takes place in near future England and follows a man while he takes a citizenship test. This book is dark and haunting and packs a lot into 112 pages.

2. What We Saw by Aaron Hartzler ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This was my first read for the Buzzword readathon and holy cow. This book follows an intense scandal in small-town Iowa. After a party Kate barely remembers, four basketball stars are arrested on allegations of sexual assault. This books is really, really intense so please tread lightly. However, if you can handle the subject matter, this book is definitely worth the read.

Currently Reading/What’s Next

I’ve decided to switch up how I do my TBRs to hopefully stick to them better. So I’ve decided to set them up weekly – usually choosing a physical book off my TBR, a library book, an e-book, and an audiobook to prioritize each week. This week is all about catch up though! I have 3 books I need to finish before the start of April.

1. A Heart in the Body in the World by Deb Caletti

I’ve heard absolutely amazing things about this book. I originally picked this up for the Contemporary-athon back in February but never got to it. Now I’m reading this for a special post I want to do (hopefully) later this spring.

2. Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennet

I’m partway through this but had to put it aside for readathons. This is releasing on April 16th so I need to get up a review up asap. This is a YA, contemporary following Birdie working in a Seattle hotel the summer before college. She is a mystery buff who befriends the boy who drives the hotel shuttle and they two of them take on a hotel mystery. So far this is really cute and I’m excited to pick it back up.

3. Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson

If I have time, I really want to reread this before picking up the sequel, The Vanishing Stair, next month. This is a YA mystery following Stevie Bell at an elite boarding school.

That’s it for this week! What are your reading plans this week? Let’s chat in the comments below!
