Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Audiobooks

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

Today we’re talking audiobooks!

I don’t actually listen to many audiobooks. I’ve only completed 9 total. Ever. So I decided to do a top 5 favorite and 5 I have on my TBR.

Favorite Audiobooks

1. What He Doesn’t Know Duet by Kandi Steiner

I really enjoyed this series on audiobook. It’s a full cast audiobook which always helps pull me into the story. This series is about a woman who is having trouble with her marriage when an old flame comes back into the picture. Now she is trying to decide what she wants. This story is the perfect angsty love triangle. And a great audiobook!

2. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Okay I’m a little biased because this is one of my favorite books of all time. But this audiobook is amazing. It’s narrated by Will Wheaton, one of my favorite nerds of all time. So it’s just the whole package for me. If you don’t know, this is a sci-fi, dystopian about a society that lives most of their days in a virtual reality. When the creator of the VR dies, he leaves behind 3 easter eggs. Whoever finds the eggs, inherits his entire fortune and dynasty. Just do me a favor and skip the movie…

3. Let’s Get Textual by Teagan Hunter

I feel like a broken record lately because I keep talking about this book. But guys, it was so damn funny. These books are really short so it made for a great audiobook! I think the audiobook for this was only about 4 hours, so I was able to listen to the entire thing in a single work day. This books is about a couple who start texting after a wrong number incident. Now they’re texting every day and growing closer. It’s a precious, hilarious romance and I highly recommend it! Especially if you’re looking for a quick audiobook!

4. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertelli

This was actually the first audiobook I ever listened to from start to finish! I absolutely loved the narrator for this, I thought he did an amazing job. And this is another book that will have you smiling and giggling the entire time. I’m sure everyone knows what this is about, but this follows the main character Simon who isn’t quite ready to tell everyone he is gay. He starts emailing another student anonymously as they bond over their fear of coming out and societal pressures of high school and otherwise. This book and it’s main characters are beyond precious. I just want to love and protect them. If you’re sleeping on this book, definitely check out the audiobook!

5. Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

I’ve listened to other audiobooks that I gave a higher rating. But I chose this one specifically because the audiobook itself was so well done. This is narrated by Neil Gaiman himself and holy moly. His voice is so amazing for audiobooks. I could listen to him narrate anything. But it lended itself so well to the spooky atmosphere of this book. If you’re invested in check this book out, I highly recommend doing so on audio!

On My TBR

1. Can’t Text This (Text #3) by Teagan Hunter

This was just released on audiobook and I immediately picked it up on Hoopla! I cannot wait to start this. I know absolutely nothing about who this follow or what the synopsis is, but I’m sure it will be another funny, sweet, cheesy romance. And I’m ready.

2. The Foxe & the Hound by R.S. Grey

I read my first R.S. Grey book at the end of last year and really enjoyed it! I’ve great things about this author overall, so I’m excited to check out more by her. This is another romance novel I know nothing about. But I’m excited about it anyways.

3. A Princess in Theory by Alyssa Cole

I’ve heard such amazing things about this series from everyone that reads it! So when I saw it on Hoopla, I had to save it. Hopefully I will be getting to this one soon as well! This is about a woman who receives an email telling her she is betrothed to an African prince. So she assumes it is span. However, it turns out, it is true.

4. If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio

This has been on my audiobook TBR forever. This book blew up this past fall, and I’ve heard nothing but amazing things. I’ve also heard the audiobook is really well done. My main trepidation about this book is… I don’t understand Shakespeare. Like at all. And this entire book revolves around a Shakespearean group. So all the references are going to go straight over my head. Have you read this? Will it matter? Let me know in the comments down below!

5. After I Do by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This is one of the last remained TJR books I haven’t read. So I’ve been putting it off because the thought of not having any books remaining makes me sad. But I definitely want to get to this one soon. This is about a couple that is having marital troubles and decide to take a year apart to see if they can find a way to love each other again. I love everything she writes, so I’m sure this one will be no different.

Are you a big audiobook listener? What are some of your favorites? I’d love to hear your recommendations!
