I stole this from Rebecca at Bookishly Rebecca 😊 Here’s some books I have on my TBR!
1. A book that you feel like you need to read because everyone talks about it.
I never feel obligated to pick up a book just because of the hype. If I’m not interested, I’m not interested. But there are definitely books I was on the fence about but they hype pushed into ‘must read’ territory.
If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio is one of those books. This was CRAZY hyped last fall and I’m planning to read it this coming spooky season.
2. A book that’s really long
Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon sounds so intriguing. But this thing is a BEAST! So for now it sits looking pretty on my shelves 😅
3. A book you’ve owned/had on your TBR for too long.
I picked up the The Unseen World by Liz Moore from Half Priced Books years ago because the synopsis sounds so interesting! I can’t part with it because I’m still interested in reading this, but I’ve never actually picked it up.
4. A book that is “required” reading.
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I feel like I’m the only person who has never read or watched anything about this.
5. A book that intimidates you.
Both The Goldfinch and The Secret History by Donna Tartt intimidate the hell outta me. This are chunky, adult literary fiction. I’ve heard amazing things about both books, but they are definitely way outside my comfort zone.
6. A book that you think might be slow.
The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin is another adult literary fiction novel that’s been on my selves forever. I started reading this a year ago but I wasn’t in the mood for the slow paced story.
7. A book you need to be in the right mood for.
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel is another slow paced, slice of life story – which definitely aren’t my go to books. I definitely need to be in the right mood to pick this up.
8. A book you’re unsure if you will like.
Oof… controversial choice. King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo was one of my most anticipated reads going into this year. But I’ve fallen a little out of love recently with YA fantasy (hopefully it’s just a phase) and didn’t have a great experience with the Six of Crows duology. So my expectations aren’t super high for this.
♥♥♥♥
I’ve got a few of these on my TBR too! Dying to read The Priory of the Orange Tree now Game of Thrones has finished. I need a fantasy fix!

Oh gosh, I feel you on Priory! I’m so intimidated though, but I really want to read it!

Exactly! It’s only $1.99 on kindle today so I’m considering picking it up there. I feel like things are less intimidating in ebook format 😅

I say go for it! It’s better than paying the full price of the book because that think is THICK!
