I can’t believe this is year 3 of the OWLS Readathon!
This is a readathon I participate in every year and absolutely adore! G has expanded this readathon like crazy over the last three years and this year and bigger and better than ever ♥
Here is the announcement video which goes over all the details and includes links to the amazing graphics. So definitely check that out if you haven’t already!
I’m aiming for the Spell maker career so I need to complete 7 OWLS which is definitely doable for me! (This does mean I’ll need to finish 13 NEWTS which will definitely be a little trickier. But future me can worry about that 😅)
Here’s what I hope to read!
Spell Maker
1. Transfiguration: Includes Shapeshifting – Slave to Sensation (Pay-Changeling #1) by Nalini Singh
I’m so excited about starting this book/series!! I’m completely obsessed with Singh’s Guild Hunter series so I’m fully expecting to fall in love with this series too. This is a fantasy romance about shapeshifters (obviously, that’s the challenge 😅). And this actual covers the Romanceopoly Spring challenge since my copy is green and yellow. So two birds!
2. History of Magic: Features Witches/Wizards – Serpent & Dove (Serpent & Dove #1) by Shelby Mahurin
This book has been on exactly 9 million TBRs… It’s just so long and I’m easily intimidated 😅 But I promise I’m going to actually make it happen this month! Plus it’s the only book on my physical TBR that has witches… odd.
3. Divination: Random Number Generator – Eight Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson
I picked out 12 books I was really excited to read and this is what the random number generator chose! I’m so hyped to finally pick this up. I had an arc copy of this and never got to it – whose surprised? (cue crickets).
4. Charms: White Cover – Straight Up Love (The Boys of Jackson Harbor #2) by Lexi Ryan
Since my honeymoon got cancelled and we’re all stuck at home I’ve gone absolutely wild buying books. Including the first 2 books in this series. I’m considering rereading book 1 for this challenge instead since it’s been so long, but I haven’t decided yet. Either way I’m going to be reading one of the books in this series!
5. Astronomy: Read the Majority While It’s Dark – Heartstopper Vol 1 by Alice Oseman
I’m finally jumping on this bandwagon! I figured a graphic novel would be perfect for this challenge since I can probably read it in a single sitting. This series was another random covid stock-up purchase… seriously y’all… my bank account is in shambles. Who needs toilet paper when you can stock up 40+ new books? 🤣
6. Arithmancy: Outside Favorite Genre – The Vanishing Deep by Astrid Scholte
I very rarely read sci-fi but I’m really excited about this book! I’ve heard amazing reviews and that it’s a super quick read (perfect for a readathon). I originally wanted to get to it in March but it’s looking unlikely at this point. If I do somehow read it in the next couple days, I have a backup book for this prompt.
7. Ancient Runes: Heart on the Cover or in Title – Heartstopper Vol 2 & 3 by Alice Oseman
I’m just gonna go ahead and binge this entire series this month. I’m expecting full swoon vibes and I’m ready.
Since I’ll have more reading time than normal (thanks quarantine). I decided to add on some Magical Seminars in case I want to read more. I chose 2 but I’m not certain if I’ll actually complete either of these – we’ll see how much reading I get done
Animagus Training
6. Arithmancy: Outside Favorite Genre – The Vanishing Deep by Astrid Scholte
Normally for OWLs you can’t double up across courses. But in her announcement video, G said you can double up across “trainings”. So since I need Arithmancy for my career, this one is already covered.
2. Transfiguration: Includes Shapeshifting – Slave to Sensation (Pay-Changeling #1) by Nalini Singh
Same with Transfiguration!
3. Potions: Book Under 150 Pages – Becoming the Dark Prince (Stalking Jack the Ripper #3.5) by Kerri Maniscalco
This one was really hard! I don’t own a single book this short. I own a couple just over 150, but none under. So I went to Goodreads in search of a novella. As luck had it, this book is only 64 pages and I had a $1 credit on Amazon for choosing no rush shipping. So I got this for free!
Merpeople Linguistics
1. Herbology: Title That Starts With “M” – My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russel
Omg I’m so excited I was able to fit this book onto April’s TBR! This is one of my most anticipated reads of the year and I desperately want to get to it asap. I’ve heard this book is really intense and isn’t for everyone, but I’m fully expecting to be blown away.
Share you OWLS TBR below if you’re participating! I know this is a super popular readathon so I’m really excited to read with all of you!
♥♥♥♥
I love this readathon!
I also want to go for Spellmaker! But I’m secretly hoping to read something for every class!

I was originally going to do that but I have like 6 additional books on my April TBR so I felt that would be pushing it 😂😂

That will make it a bit hard haha!

Best of luck with the readathon! I still need to read Serpent & Dove, too, and I’ve heard really good things about My Dark Vanessa. I read the first volume of Heartstopper and loved it – it’s so cute! Happy reading. 😁

[…] if I would ever actually pick. BUT. I’m reading Eight Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson for my OWLs and apparently that book spoils this one. Soo… now I need to read this before I pick that one […]

Good luck with the readathon! I’m going for the Aurologist so Serpent and Dove may be a good one for my History of Magic prompt.
