Halloween Movie Book Tag (original)

It’s time for the last Halloween book tag of the year! 🎃

I wanted the prefect Halloween tag to wrap up the spooky season but I wasn’t finding anything that spoke to me. So I decided to just create my own based on my favorite Halloween movies!

Definitely feel free to do this tag! And tag me so I can check it out your answers ❤️

1. Halloweentown – Favorite magical world

The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow

I feel like I’m kinda cheating with this pick, but it’s my tag and I’ll do what I want 😅

In this world you can find doors to other magical worlds. And that just seems perfect for my indecisive personality!

2. The Sanderson Sisters – A book with a revenge plot

Foul is Fair by Hannah Capin

This is one of my favorite revenge stories! This got a lot of buzz before it’s release, but it’s told in a really unique style that doesn’t work for everyone. If you like weird, dark, twisted contemporaries with feminist themes, definitely check this out!

3. The Haunted Mansion – Recommend 2 books that are similar to each other (if you like this, you’ll also like this)

The Beautiful by Renée Ahdieh AND The Casquette Girls by Alys Arden

This is definitely the most blaring choice from my reading this year (and I think I’ve exhausted all my creativity coming up with these questions 😅)

These are both YA paranormal series set in New Orleans. The Casquette Girls is a contemporary setting while The Beautiful is historical. But they both follow female leads who find themselves unknowingly wrapped up in the paranormal world.

4. The Addams Family – A book with loads family drama

Hot and Hammered series by Tessa Bailey

This series (mostly) follows the Castle family and their romances. It’s really great, light-hearted rom-com series with tons of fun drama.

5. Twitches – Book featuring sisters

The Henna Wars by Adiba Jaigirdar

This is a really adorable YA contemporary that features 2 sisters as they try to navigate high school, coming out, racism, and familial exceptions. The sisterly relationship in here was one of my favorite aspects of the story!

6. Practical Magic – A book about a curse

Sacrifice by Katee Robert

This is a bit of a weird choice for this 😅 But the main male protagonist in this paranormal romance novella is trapped inside his mansion by a curse. Things get pretty wild from there!

7. Casper – A TBR book that is haunting you

Beyond the Black Door by A.M. Strickland

This book has been on my TBR forever. I received an ARC of it. I’ve checked it out from the library about half a dozen times. WHY HAVEN’T I READ IT YET?

8. Clue – Twist you didn’t see coming

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

I don’t know if I’ll ever get over about how blindsided I was by this plot twist….

9. Beetlejuice – Book featuring the undead

Reborn Yesterday by Tessa Bailey

I actually did an entire post last week on Paranormal Book Recommendations. This is a pretty underhyped vampire series I’ve really enjoyed!

10. Tim Burton – A book, author, or series you associate with Halloween

Ruth Ware

Since 2018 I’ve read at least one Ruth Ware book each fall. She is apparently my goto during the spooky season!

11. Coraline – Recommend a middle grade

Small Spaces series by Katherine Arden

I’ve talked about this series a lot on my blog. It’s my absolutely favorite middle grade series. It’s spooky and atmospheric and everything I’m looking for when I pick up that age range. Katherine Arden can do no wrong in my eyes.

12. The Great Pumpkin – Upcoming release you’re highly anticipating

How to Fail at Flirting by Denise Williams

Not only do I do bi-monthly New Release posts, but I also do Upcoming Releases On My Radar posts. So I talk about new releases I’m excited for a lot.

This is probably the remaining 2020 release I’m most excited for! It sounds like everything I love in romance and I can’t wait to pick it up.

13. The Nightmare Before Christmas – A book that blends genres

House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig

This book was such a unique blend of fantasy, paranormal, romance, and horror.

Hope you all have an amazing Halloween! 🎃
