Upcoming 2021 releases I CANNOT wait for!
I have a LOT of books on this list! 2021 just has so many amazing books coming out! So grab a cup of coffee and settle in.
Like last year I’ll still be doing bimonthly new release posts (even though they’re a real bitch to compile 😅) I just loving having them to reference!
Here are 25, 2021 releases I absolutely cannot wait for!
1. Into the Heartless Woods by Joanna Ruth Meyer
Release Date: January 12
This sounds like everything I love – “heartbreaking and darkly atmospheric story of impossible love between a monstrous tree siren and a boy who lives at the edge of her wood.” Plus this cover 😍
2. What Big Teeth by Rose Szabo
Release Date: February 2
Another YA fantasy that sounds right up my alley! It follows a monstrous Addams-like-family, atmospheric setting, ghosts, and dark prophecies. I can’t wait.
3. The Burning Girls by C.J. Tudor
Release Date: February 9
I’m in the minority but I really loved The Other People. So I am really excited to have an e-arc of her next release! This follows a cult and slew of missing girls. I can’t wait to see what paranormal spin CJ Tudor gives this!
4. A Court of Silver Flames (ACOTAR #4) by Sarah J. Maas
Release Date: February 20
I’m sure this is on everyone’s list. And it’s here a little apprehensively… I love SJM and I trust her to pull this one out. But holy hell do I hate Nesta…. Please tell me I’m not alone.
5. Love at First by Kate Clayborn
Release Date: February 23
I fell in love with Kate Clayborn’s previous release Love Lettering and I was so excited to hear about her next book! The cover leads me to believe this takes place in the same world and it sounds absolutely adorable. I’m sure this one will be just as charming and swoony.
6. Bridge of Souls by Victoria Schwab
Release Date: March 2
I’ve been anticipating this book since I finished book 2 the day after it released 😅 I just really love this middle grade series and can’t wait to be back with these characters.
7. Down Comes the Night by Allison Saft
Release Date: March 2
Another YA fantasy that ticks all my boxes! It’s gothic, atmospheric, and romance-centric. It sounds like everything that I love.
8. An Unexpected Peril (Veronica Speedwell #6) by Deanna Raybourn
Release Date: March 2
Oh man am I excited for another Veronica Speedwell book!! I already have my hands on an e-arc and to say I’m hyped is a massive understatement. I can’t wait to see where this series goes after the ending of book 5. Stoker is my everything.
9. Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro
Release Date: March 2
Never Let Me Go is one of my all-time favorite books and a book I think about constantly. I’m really excited for Ishiguro’s next release and I’m expecting it to be just as mind blowing as that one was.
10. Lost in the Never Woods by Aiden Thomas
Release Date: March 23
Aiden Thomas blew me away with his debut novel Cemetery Boys. So immediately requested this beautiful book! It’s a contemporary twist on Peter Pan and I just can’t wait to see what he does with this story!
11. The Intimacy Experiment by Rosie Danan
Release Date: April 6
I truly hate the covers for this series… but I loved The Roommate and am so excited that Naomi is getting her own book!
12. Twice Shy by Sarah Hogle
Release Date: April 6
Sarah Hogle’s last book You Deserve Each Other was one of my biggest surprises of 2020. I have never laughed so hard while reading. I think she has the potential to be an all-time favorite rom-com author so I’m really excited to check out this next book!
13. Second First Impression by Sally Thorne
Release Date: April 13
I was very late to The Hating Game train but I’m so excited for another book from Sally Thorne! I know people were suuuuper disappointed by 99 Percent Mine so I skipped that one. But this is another work place romance so I’m hoping it has the amazing angsty vibes of THG.
14. Crown of Gilded Bones (Blood and Ash #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Release Date: April 20
JLA absolutely destroyed me with the ending of A Kingdom of Flesh and Fury. So I need this book now. Or yesterday.
15. Blade of Secrets (Bladesmith #1) by Tricia Levenseller
Release Date: May 4
I’ve heard amazing things about Tricia Levenseller but I didn’t pick up one of her books until The Shadows Between Us. And omg did I love that book! So now I’m a convert and will read anything she releases.
16. The People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry
Release Date: May 11
Beach Read was easily one of my favorite books of 2020 and I’m so excited that Emily Henry is writing more adult romance! I adore her writing and am sure this one will be just as amazing as the last.
17. Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Release Date: May 25
Taylor Jenkins Reid is an author I trust to write just about any story. I did skip Daisy Jones but I’ve given almost every book by her a 4 or 5 star rating. So this definitely has the potential to be a new favorite!
18. One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston
Release Date: June 1
Another auto buy author for me! I love Casey McQuiston as an author and human being. I love their writing and this new sapphic romance sounds like everything I love and want from a romance novel. I can’t wait. I’ve heard only amazing things from early reviewers!
19. Grace and Glory (The Harbinger #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Release Date: June 1
Another JLA book because I have a damn addiction. The ending of Rage and Ruin had me screaming and I can’t wait to see how this series wraps up! I think this series might be my favorite of hers!
20. The Box in the Woods (Truly Devious #4) by Maureen Johnson
Release Date: June 15
Truly Devious is getting a spin-off series!! I loved this world and these characters and I’m so glad we’re getting more from them. Plus this one has a summer camp setting so it’s destined to be amazing.
21. Darling by K. Ancrum
Release Date: June 22
K. Ancrum could write a dictionary and I’d probably add it to my most anticipated list… their writing is outstanding and I just can’t get enough Peter Pan retellings. I expect to be broken by their take.
22. Survive the Night by Riley Sager
Release Date: June 29
Riley Sager is another auto buy author. Plus a 1990’s stuck in the car with a stranger at night story sounds terrifying and amazing.
23. Dark Waters (Small Spaces #3) by Katherine Arden
Release Date: August 3
We’re finally getting the next Small Spaces book! Katherine Arden has said that this is the scariest book yet and I just can’t flipping wait. If you haven’t checked out this creepy middle grade series do it now!
24. The Dead and the Dark by Courtney Gould
Release Date: August 3
Last but definitely not least! This sounds like my perfect YA. It’s feminist, dark, and slightly magical. Plus I will never get over this stunning cover… I just need it.
25. When Night Breaks (Kingdom of Cards #2) by Janella Angeles
Release Date: August 24
When Dreams Descend was on this list last year so it’s only fitting the conclusion to the duology is on this one! I can’t wait to see where this wild, magical story goes! Especially have that crazy ending!
