Top Ten Tuesday: 2021 ARCs I’d Kill For

I want these something fierce….

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

I did this same theme last year and with the number of amazing 2021 releases, I decided to do it again! I’m extremely lucky to receive a lot of ARCs from publishers. But there are still tons of big releases I will never be able to get my hands on before release.

These are some highly anticipated releases I’d sacrifice a limb for (but like.. not really).

1. Neon Gods (Dark Olympus #1) by Katee Robert

Release Date: June 1, 2021

This is probably the ARC I’d do the most terrible deeds for. Not only is Katee Robert one of my all time favorite romance authors, but this beauty (at least I assume it’ll be beautiful…) is a Hades and Persephone retelling – peak retelling! I’ve been following Katee Robert online for awhile and she has said this is her favorite book to date. I cannot wait to get my hands on this!!

2. Grace and Glory (The Harbinger #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Release Date: June 1, 2021

This is the conclusion to The Harbinger series and I’ve needed it desperately since finishing Rage and Ruin back in November. The cliffhanger that book left me on nearly killed me. And I can’t wait to see how this series wraps up. This is a spinoff of the Dark Elements series (I suggest reading that one first) and it takes place in an urban fantasy world where there are Angels, Demons, and Gargoyles. It’s fantastic.

3. Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Release Date: May 25, 2021

TJR is a gem to the writing world. I skipped Daisy Jones but I’ve absolutely adored everything else she has written. And this new books is not only gorgeous (at least his UK cover), but it sounds like something I will love. I’ve already preordered a signed copy and I can’t wait until it arrives on my doorstep. But if the ARC gods want to grant me an early e-copy… 🙏

4. Beautiful Nightmares (Fortuna Sworn #4) by K.J. Sutton

Release Date: 2021

Kelsey if you’re reading this (she’s not), I’d do anything for this next book! The Fortuna Sworn series has destroyed me little by little with each and every book. I don’t know how my poor heart can handle 3 more books… But after the ending of book 3, I need to dive into this next installment as soon as possible. This series follows a woman swept into a world of danger, fae, and other immortal beings. This next book is rumored to be releasing at some point this year, but since it’s an indie release, nothing is set in stone quite yet.

5. Crown of Gilded Bones (Blood and Ash #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Release Date: April 20, 2021

Who is surprised to see another JLA book on this list? *crickets*

This is also the conclusion to a trilogy! Armentrout loves her cliffhangers and I literally screamed at the end of book 2. I need this. I can’t wrap my brain around how this story will wrap up in this last book but I’m ready for it. This new adult fantasy follows a complex world of vampires, monsters, werewolves, and gods. It’s sexy, witty, and compulsively readable (like all her other books!).

6. Survive the Night by Riley Sager

Release Date: July 6, 2021

I will forever read anything and everything Riley Sager releases. In my opinion, each book he releases is better than the last. And considering Home Before Dark was one of my favorite books of 2020, I can’t wait to see what this one does! I adore this premise – it’s set in the 90’s with 2 strangers stuck in a car together while driving across the country. One might be deadly.

7. This Poison Heart (This Poison Heart #1) by Kalynn Bayron

Release Date: July 6, 2021

I really enjoyed Kalynn Bayron’s debut novel Cinderella is Dead. But this new release from her has the potential to be everything. It’s another retelling but this one is a dark twist on The Secret Garden 😱 And it’s a duology! With the most stunning cover ever. I need it!

8. Empire of the Vampire (Empire of the Vampire #1) by Jay Kristoff

Release Date: September 7, 2021

I put this on the list with hesitation… But I want this book in my hands because I just need to know. This book has been hyped for what feels like years at this point. And the anticipation of whether or not it will deliver is killing me 😅 I’ve never read anything from this author because I’m not convinced Kristoff’s writing is for me. But I’m too intrigued not to give this one a read (hopefully in September – this release date has changed more times than I can count).

9. The Box in the Woods (Truly Devious #4) by Maureen Johnson

Release Date: June 15, 2021

Maureen Johnson floored us all when she revealed this cover and the surprise that the Truly Devious series is getting a spinoff. I’m so exited for more in this world and time with these characters. Johnson’s mysteries are fantastically woven and I can’t wait to see where this one goes! This new series takes place at a summer camp so it’s a whole new setting and mystery!

10. Good Girl, Bad Blood (Good Girls Guide to Murder #2) by Holly Jackson

Release Date: March 2, 2021

Another YA mystery! (who am I?) I know this sequel is already out in the UK but here in the US we’re waiting with bated breath. Book 1 made my favorites of the year list and I can’t wait for more from this series. Hopefully I can get it on audio too because nothing gets me like full cast audiobooks with sound effects 😍

Are there any releases you’d do terrible things to get your hands on??

  1. Great list! I really need to try A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and the Truly Devious novels, and the cover of The Poison Heart is beautiful. Malibu Rising isn’t usually the type of novel I’d go for at all, but Taylor Jenkins Reid writes rich people who are all absolute messes so well.

  2. I love what you did with the topic! We share one – The Box in the Woods and I am really excited to see the next mystery that she has whipped up for us all. I am currently reading From Blood and Ash and last night and am already 1/2 of the way through it 😂 It is amazing. I think I am going to have to edit my TBR (again) and add Kingdom of Flesh and Fire to the list for this month because I have been told that I will be screaming at the end and in absolute need of the next book😂 Great TTT!

  3. Great list. I have a couple on my own. I am so unsure about the Kristoff book. I’ve loved some of his stuff but the last couple of years he has let me down. The Nevernight series was AMAZING.. until the last book. I will have to see what reviews look like after it’s released!
