March 2021 TBR

New month, new TBR!

March is going to be an interesting reading month! As always I have lofty plans. There’s book clubs & readathons I want to participate in, ARCs to catch up, and my monthly TBR challenges.

If you ever want to buddy read – send me a message and we can set one up! I absolutely love buddy reading and it keeps me motivated and on track with the books I actually need to read.

Like the last 2 months, my TBR is broken into 3 sections: TBR challenges (check out my Instagram if you want to see me pull the prompts), ARCS, and any additional books (buddy reads, book clubs, etc).

TBR Challenges

Challenge 1: Most Anticipated – Down Comes the Night by Alison Saft

I took this off my 2021 Most Anticipated list! It releases March 2nd and I absolutely cannot wait to get into this one! It’s a snowy, gothic YA fantasy romance set at secluded (and possibly haunted) mansion.

Challenge 2: Recommended – Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers

Not only was this a Book of the Month pick for February (so I’m counting this a recommendation from them), but I’ve been seeing tons of reviewers give this 5 stars! Including Mina from Mina Reads.

Challenge 3: Pull Again (That means I have 7 prompts for March)

Challenge 3 (again): Historical – A Lady’s Formula for Love by Elizabeth Everett

I first pulled the “Pull Again” prompt which means I needed to pull an extra promo this month (there’s only 1 of these in the jar so I’m never at risk of having more than 7 pulls).

Then I pulled historical and I knew right away I wanted to read this! This was February release that I was crazy excited for but never managed to pick up. It follows a female scientist in Victorian London who falls in love with the man hired to watch over her.

Challenge 4: Set in the Present – Lost in the Never Woods by Aiden Thomas

Another book off my Most Anticipated list! This March release is one I’m desperate to start asap. It’s a Peter Pan retelling from the author of Cemetery Boys (which was one of my favorite books of 2020). It also has a magical woods which is another huge buzzword for me!

Challenge 5: Paperback – Blood of Zeus by Meredith Wild & Angel Payne

Spoiler alert for a future post – but this is also going to be my first read for Becca’s 48 hours Bookoplathon! It fits both prompts so it worked out perfect!

This is a paranormal/fantasy romance following the decedents of the gods. That’s literally all I know.

Challenge 6: Young Adult – Namesake (Fable #2) by Adrienne Young

I’m so excited to pick up this sequel/conclusion to the Fable duology! This is a nautical/pirate-esque fantasy with an amazing friendship/found family. I can’t wait to be back in this world and see what happens!

Challenge 7: Favorite Author – An Unexpected Peril (Veronica Speedwell #6) by Deanna Raybourn

This is one of my favorite series of all time and I can’t wait to be back with these characters. This Victorian mystery has the slowest slow burn romance ever and it’s finally (maybe) coming to fruition. And I NEED it. This releases right away on March 2nd so I need to get it read and reviewed asap.

ARCs

March is little slower ARC-wise than February. But I have a lot of late ones to catch up on as well as some I’d like to get a head start on. Here are the must reads for March though! (not including the ones I mentioned up above)

Sweet and Bitter Magic by Adrienne Tooley

Release Date: March 9th

My review for this will be coming super soon because I’m reading this book this week! It’s a debut YA fantasy with witches and a sapphic love story.

That Way Madness Lies: 15 of Shakespeare’s Most Notable Works Reimagined by Dahlia Adler

Release Date: March 16th

A YA anthology all about Shakespeare retellings!

Buzzwordathon – ‘Time’

I would really like to participate this month but honestly I only have 2 books on my Goodreads TBR with ‘time’ in the title and neither of them are high priorities right now. So sadly I think I’m going to skip this month.

Book Clubs, Buddy Reads, Etc

ToG-Along – Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2) by Sarah J. Maas

It’s the 3rd month of ToG-along and that means we’re onto Crown of Midnight! This was my least favorite in my initial read of this series so I’m curious to see how I feel about it this time around.

Faes And Gays Book Club – A Dark and Hollow Star by Ashley Suttleworth

This is a late February ARC but I’ll definitely be picking it up this month for the Fae’s and Gay’s book club. It’s a YA queer fantasy about Fae. That’s literally all I know. I have started this but I’m only like 6% in.

Bridge of Souls by Victoria Schwab

Release Date: March 2nd

I love this creepy middle grade series and I can’t wait to get my hands on this 3rd book! I have an Owlcrate edition coming but I always read these via audio. So I’ll be doing that right away this month.

Okay so that’s 12 books which is totally doable! Hopefully that give me some room to squeeze in a few late ARCs or get ahead on April a little.

Let me know what you’re planning to read in March in the comments below!!
