Top Ten Tuesday: Quotes From My Favorite Books

These are some of favorite books – and some of the quotes that blew me away.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

This weeks topic is all about book quotes! So I decided to feature some of my all-time favorite books, and some of the quotes that made me fall so deeply in love with them.

1. The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow

“I hope you will find the cracks in the world and wedge them wider, so the light of other suns shines through; I hope you will keep the world unruly, messy, full of strange magics; I hope you will run through every open Door and tell stories when you return.”

2. The Wicked Villains series by Katee Robert

Desperate Measures: “A princess locked in a tower is only kept away from the world for one reason: it has nothing to do with her safety and everything to do with her perceived value.”

A Worthy Opponent: “I don’t believe in knights on white horses. Maybe I did once, but the only people out there searching for damsels in distress are more dangerous than anything said damsel leaves behind.”

3. Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuison

But the truth is, also, simply this: love is indomitable.”

“And then, inexplicably, you had the absolute audacity to love me back. Can you believe it?
Sometimes, even now, I still can’t.”

4. Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand

“Girls hunger. And we’re taught, from the moment our brains can take it, that there isn’t enough food for us all.”

5. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue

“Blink and you’re twenty-eight, and everyone else is now a mile down the road, and you’re still trying to find it, and the irony is hardly lost on you that in wanting to live, to learn, to find yourself, you’ve gotten lost.””

6. People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

“All day long, I hear myself saying this same phrase, like I’m desperate to get it out of my body even as I feel incapable: I am having a hard time”

“I love him so much. I love him more than I did yesterday, and I already know tomorrow I’ll love him even more, because every piece of him he gives me is another to fall in love with.”

7. The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

The Dream Thieves: “While I’m gone… dream me the world. Something new for every night.”

The Raven King: “His feelings for Adam were an oil spill; he’d let them overflow and now there wasn’t a damn place in the ocean that wouldn’t catch fire if he dropped a match.”

8. The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden

There are no monsters in the world, and no saints. Only infinite shades woven into the same tapestry, light and dark. One man’s monster is another man’s beloved. The wise know that.

9. Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw

Because I am more darkness than girl. More winder shadows than August sunlight. We are the daughters of the wood”

10. Dear Emmie Blue by Lia Louis

“I know, deep down, I am made of strong stuff. Rebuilt with it, at least, the way we all are over the years, with age and experience. Skin thickening, heart softening, patched up double in the places prone to breaking. A sum of all the things that have hurt us, scared us, sheltered, and delighted us.”
