September TBR

TurnOfTheKey

Happy September!! I’m SO ready for fall and all the spooky things. This month I’m keeping my TBR light and hoping to catch up on all my late arcs.

This is my wedding month!! Which is crazy exciting but it means I probably won’t have a ton of reading time. So my TBR this month is just a list of all the arcs I’m late on (oops).

1. The Lady Rogue by Jen Bennett

LadyRogue

This is being released on September 3rd and because I’m the worst, I still haven’t started this… But hopefully I can knock it out this weekend and get my review up in time for release day! This is about the daughter of a treasure hunter who teams up with her father’s protege when her father goes missing. I’ve heard some mixed things, but this sounds like a fun, light fantasy.

2. She’s the Worst by Lauren Spieller

ShesTheWorst

This is a YA contemporary that’s gotten some mediocre reviews. So I’m a little worried that I’m going to be too old to relate to this. This is about 2 sisters who have never been very close but have a pact to explore LA before they go their separate ways after high school.

3. The Nanny by Gilly Macmillan

TheNanny

This is Macmillan’s latest thriller and I’ve seen some really good early reviews! This follows a woman who is returning home after years of being estranged from her mother. When she returns she investigates the mysterious disappearance of her childhood nanny and uncovers some family secrets.

4. Say You Still Love Me by K.A. Tucker

SayYouStillLoveMe

Technically I’ve already started this and so far I’m enjoying it! This is an adult romance about successful business woman who runs into her teenage love years after he ghosted her. This definitely seems like a polarizing book so I’m interested to see where I land.

5. The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware

TurnOfTheKey

This is the book I’m most excited to read this month! I’ve heard absolutely amazing things and I love Ruth Ware’s writing. This is another nanny thriller (popular theme this year!). This follows a woman who becomes a nanny for wealthy family but ends up on trial for the murder of the child.

6. The Birthday Girl by Melissa de la Cruz

BirthdayGirl

This is probably the book I’m least excited to start… this has gotten some pretty terrible reviews (average of 3.24 on Goodreads… ouch). This is about a woman who invites everyone to her fabulous home in Palm Springs for her 40th birthday celebration.

7. Swipe Right for Murder by Derek Millman

SwipeRight

This is another book I’ve technically started. I picked this up earlier in August but I’m not gonna lie… I wasn’t loving it. The writing style is so strange and the plot is.. out there. I’m hoping this picks up but I don’t have high hopes unfortunately.

8. Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center

ThingsYouSaveInFire

I’m really excited to finally get to this! This an adult romance about a female firefighter who works in a firehouse that doesn’t seem too happy to have a “lady” on their crew. Everyone except for the young, handsome rookie.

What are you planning on reading this month??

I’m reading She’s the worst… I didn’t know it had bad reviews, now I’m worried I won’t like it at the end. I mean… is not the greatest but I was hoping for, at least, good.

I felt the same way! But each of her books has been slightly better than the one before (I gave The Death of Mrs Westaway 4⭐) so I have high hopes for this one!!
