Reading Rush TBR

It’s time for the Reading Rush!

I’ve updated/changed this TBR about 5 times now so I have zero confidence that I’ll strictly stick to this 😅

The Reading Rush is a readathon created and hosted by Ariel Bisset and Raeleen Lemay. This round is running from July 20-26.

There are 7 challenges, a group read, video challenges, photo challenges, and TONS of reading sprints. So make sure to follow them on Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube to stay up to date on all the fun!

Group Book

1. Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid

While I really want to read this eventually, I don’t think it’s going to happen this week. I have 6 other books I need/want to read and I’m still on the waitlist for this audiobook.

Challenges

So I’m choosing 6 books, 1 for each actual book prompt (one is a location). HOWEVER – finishing 6 books is highly unlikely so I did choose books that could count toward other challenges if necessary.

1. Same Color as Your Birthstone (Amethyst) – Devil in Spring (The Ravenels #3) by Lisa Kleypas

I really want to pick back up with this series and now seems like the perfect opportunity. This cover is purple-y (kinda) so I’m counting it lol. This is Pandora’s story and I’m really excited to be back with these characters.

2. Starts With the Word ‘The’ – The Winter of the Witch (Winternight Trilogy #3) by Katherine Arden

I know some people were saying this challenge was difficult… but for me it was just difficult to narrow down 😅 I had SO MANY possibilities for this that I didn’t know how to choose. I decided to finally pick up the final book in this trilogy! I absolutely loved the first 2 books and I’ve heard this final book is an emotional rollercoaster.

This series is a Russian folklore inspired fantasy following a young woman who can see the old gods. But as Christianity spreads, the old gods are disappearing and evil spirits are closing in.

3. Book That Inspired a Movie You’ve Already Seen – Avatar the Last Airbender: The Promise Part 1-3

I fully acknowledge that I’m hardcore cheating with this one 😅 Not only is this not a movie, but this comic actually picks up where the show ended and was therefore inspired by the show. But it’s what I’m reading damnit! I’m not a movie or TV person so this challenge was near impossible for me. My husband owns all the Avatar comics however, and I’ve always wanted to read them since I loved the show so much. So I’m planning to read all 3 parts of The Promise.

4. First Book You Touch – He Started It by Samantha Downing

So I’m still pushing to catch up on ARCs so I decided to alter this challenge a little since most of my arcs are e-copies. I put a bunch of titles I’m most interested in, in a jar and picked one at random. I pulled this thriller which releases tomorrow – so perfect timing. I’ve heard amazing things about this author so hopefully I love this one!

5. Read a Book Entirely Not in Your House – Avatar: The Promise Parts 1-3

I know people have been complaining about this challenge but I personally love it. I recently bought all new patio furniture so I’m always looking for an excuse to get outside and enjoy it. This is the only challenge I’m not picking a unique book for. I plan to read a lot of these outside at least partially, but I’m going to read the comic series in full outside.

6. Genre You Want to Read More of (SFF) – Deal with the Devil (Mercenary Librarians #1 ) by Kit Rocha

I’ve had a tumultuous relationship with fantasy but I think I’m finally finding my niche. And I’ve really been in the mood for some lately – starting with this one! Literally all I know about this one is the series title: Mercenary Librarians. And I don’t need to know anymore!

7. Set on a Different Continent Than Where You Live – A Murderous Relation (Veronica Speedwell #5) by Deanna Raybourn

I’ve been desperately trying to find a way to squeeze this book into my TBR. I’m completely obsessed with this series and can’t wait any longer to pick up the latest book. This is a historical mystery series set in London and has my favorite slow burn romance of all time. Can’t wait to see where this one picks up!!

That’s my TBR for the week! Are you participating in the Reading Rush?? Share your TBR with me below! I’d love to see what you chose for each challenge!

  1. Can’t wait to see what you think of He Started This because I want to read it! I’ll be trying to participate this year too, but I don’t have a TBR. Just for the adaptation one that I’ll be trying to read Coraline. Good luck!

  2. Yay! I can’t wait! I’m having trouble finding a book with my birthstone (diamond), but I’ll make it work haha! Where did you find the info on the group read? I didn’t see anything about it on the site…

    • I saw a lot of people using white OR just choosing a colored diamond (pink, yellow, etc)!

And I originally saw it on their Twitter page – they had a poll back in June to vote on it. And Ariel mentioned it in one of the videos, but I’m not sure if it was on her channel or the actual Reading Rush channel. I hope you have an amazing readathon!! ❤️
