Today we’re not talking about books!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.
I’m a serious introvert with a copious amount of anxiety. So hobbies are my life-line 😅 I tend to dabble in new ones all the time. These are the hobbies I keep returning to though!
Some of these are book-adjacent. Not sorry.
1. Planning
I’ve posted about my planner before but this is probably my biggest hobby other than reading. I have a B6 ring planner that I use to track work, daily tasks, habits, social media, etc and a LifePlanner I use as a memory journal. I follow tons of planner people on Youtube and Instagram and I’m always looking for stickers and stationary.
2. Bullet Journaling
This hobby is definitely a pretty book-adjacent because I use my bullet journal exclusively to track my reading. But it’s definitely a hobby that I enjoy and spend a lot of time doing. I use this to track my TBR, books read, buddy reads, hauls, readathons, lists, etc. I love coming up with a theme and color scheme every month!
3. Cross Stitching
I LOVE cross stitching. I have a hard time turning off (thanks anxiety) which means I have a hard time sitting down and doing nothing. So even if I’m watching TV, a movie, listening to an audiobook, I need to be doing something with my hands. Enter cross stitch. I have so many completed projects just lying around.
4. Puzzles
Thanks to the pandemic, my puzzle collection has officially reached hoarder status 😅 I love puzzles and go through phases where I do them constantly. I have a natural affinity for shape and pattern recognition so puzzles just really work for me.
5. Blogging
Obviously this is also quite book related. However, I’ve been blogging longer than I’ve been in the book community so I’m counting it. My first blog was actually a vegan food blog. I’m allergic to dairy and went full vegan for about 2 years after college. I shared a lot of my recipes and general experiences there (that blog is long gone though 😅).
6. Yoga
This hobby has completely fallen by the wayside in 2020… but I’m a certified yoga instructor and teach at our local gym, when there isn’t a global pandemic. I definitely miss it.
7. Youtube
I’m not a big TV or movie person but I CONSTANTLY watch Youtube. I watch planning videos, book videos, decorate and cleaning videos, and lots of ASMR.
8. Instagram
Another hobby that is now bookish but hasn’t always been. I was pretty late to the Instagram game but when I joined in like 2014, I actually started as a yoga account. I was super into it for about a year or 2 but it’s definitely a bit of a toxic community… so much of it is based on appearance and comparison and it just wasn’t great for my mental health. Now I literally NEVER post pictures of myself 😅
Share some of your non-reading hobbies in the comments below! I’d love to hear what you love to do outside of the bookish community ❤️
