October 2018 Haul

I’m technically on a book buying ban while my fiancé and I save for our wedding… clearly I failed.

Haul

1. Amazon Kindle

My first and most exiting purchase was my new Amazon Kindle! I never liked e-readers because the glare killed my eyes so I love the matte screen on this. And now I’m obsessed with ebooks.

2. Cockroaches by Jo Nesbo

This is the second book in the Harry Hole series. This mystery series follows the Norwegian detective, Harry Hole. These are straight up detective mysteries and I’ve heard the books just keep getting better. In this book Harry is in Thailand, investigating the murder of the Norwegian ambassador.

3. A Perilous Undertaking by Deanna Raybourn

This is also a second book in a series, The Veronica Speedwell Series. I really liked the first book, A Curious Beginning, and want to pick this up asap. This is a historical fiction, mystery series following Veronica Speedwell in 1887 London.

4. The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin

I’ve been seeing this book everywhere and I’m so hyped for it. This is the first book in an adult, high fantasy series. I don’t know a ton about the series but I’ve seen nothing but amazing reviews. All I know is this follows a mother trying to save her daughter after the world starts to collapse. I’m in a huge fantasy mood, so I will probably be reaching for this soon.

5. Broken Things by Lauren Oliver

This is a YA mystery/thriller about 2 young girls who are accused of murdering their best friend. But they didn’t do it. I haven’t had a ton of luck with YA thrillers but this synopsis just sounds so intriguing, I had to grab it.

6. Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand

This YA Fantasy is one of my most anticipated books of the year. I still haven’t ready Legrand’s first book, Furyborn (another most anticipated book…) but I want to get to both of them before the end of the year. This follows a group of girls who travel to Sawkill Rock to take on the dark evil that’s been stealing girls for decades. I love me some badass girl friends.

7. Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

I had this preorder because I’m the weirdo who collects and prefers paperbacks.

8. Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas

I’ve never been so hyped for a book. I’m complete and utter Maas trash ♥

What books did you pick up this month? What are you most excited to get to?

♥♥♥♥
