This new series was inspired by the TBR Closet Unhaul by Books and Lala and Down the TBR Hole by Lost in a Story. Both of these series were/are about clearing out that ever growing TBR pile. Lately I’ve been feeling overwhelmed by all the books on my TBR, both physical and online. My bookish tastes are always changing but I rarely clear off my shelves or Goodreads account.
For this unhaul, I’m looking back on my bookstagram at the books I hauled in this month 1 year ago – I started the account a year ago in October so it works out perfectly. And I’m going to force myself to either read the books I haven’t picked up yet, or unhaul them.
On Goodreads I’ll find all the books I added in that month and reevaluate if I still want to read them. I’m not going to force myself to read these since I don’t necessarily own them, I just want make sure I’m only saving books I’m actually interested in. If the list is really long, I may split it up or change how I do this.
NOTE: I retain the rights to alter these rules at any time 🙂
Alright, a year ago was right around the time I finally got back into reading for fun. It was also when I first discovered Booktube and Bookstagram, and therefore discovered YA. So I was picking up pretty much anything that was recommended. Disclaimer over..
Physical TBR
1. Everland – Read, 3 stars
Woo, good start!
2. Grisha Trilogy – Read, 5 stars
I binge read this entire series last year and it was fantastic.
3. Norse Mythology – Unread
I’ve been putting it off because mythology intimidates me and history isn’t my strong suit. But I’m not unhauling it (especially since my fiancé has read it) so this will be the first book on my November tbr.
4. The Devil in the White City – Unread
I don’t have any interest in this anymore – in fact it’s already removed from my Goodreads list. So this is my first unhaul.
5. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde – Unread
I’m not exactly in the mood for this now that October is over, but I don’t want to unhaul it either. So I’ll try and get to this. If not, I might just unhaul it and buy a prettier edition haha.
6. In the Woods – Read, 2 stars
Unfortunately I really didn’t care for this and have no desire to continue the series. So maybe I’ll just unhaul this too…
7. In a Dark, Dark Wood – Read, 3 stars
This was good. Nothing mind-blowing or surprising, but good.
8. The Secret History – Unread
I’m reading this one in November! I’ve heard nothing but good things about Donna Tartt’s books so I’m excited.
9. Agatha Christie – Hercule Poirot Short Stories and The Monogram Murders
Alright I’m already breaking my own rules. I’m keeping both of these but won’t be reading them in November either. I’m slowly making my way through all of Agatha Christie’s books, starting with the Hercule Poirot series, so I will get to these eventually.

Goodread TBR
1. The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand – Keep
I’ve been saving this for my December TBR.
2. Hercule Poirot: The Complete Short Stories – Keep
3. The Secret History by Donna Tartt – Keep
4. Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore – Keep
I would probably remove this if it wasn’t for the fact that I already own it… so I’ll give it a try before deleting it.
5. Dreamland Burning by Jennifer Latham – Keep
This is a book I totally forgot about. It still sounds really interesting to me so I need to pick this one up soon!
6. Murder on the Link (Hercule Poirot #2) by Agatha Christie – Keep
I’m actually in the middle of reading this.
7. A Million Junes by Emily Henry – Remove
This one might hurt haha. I’m just not a huge fan of YA romance or magical realism, so I just don’t see myself ever picking this up.
8. Nevernight by Jay Kristoff – Remove
Sorry guys… There’s so many fantasies I want to get to, and I’m just not interested enough to ever reach for this.
9. Her Every Fear by Peter Swanson – Keep
I love mystery/thrillers and need to finally read some of his books.
10. This is How it Always is by Laurie Frankel – Keep
I have no idea when I’ll get to this, but it sounds like such a beautiful and powerful story.
Alright that’s all for this months unhaul! Do you disagree with any of my choices? Let me know, maybe you can change my mind!
♥♥♥♥
Ooh I love this idea! I think your choices were great. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on “The Secret History”! I’ve recently read “If We Were Villains” which is constantly compared to it, so I’m hoping I love it.

Really enjoyed The Secret History, will be excited to hear what you think. Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch is great too, just VERY long

I own The Goldfinch too so I’m sure that one will be coming up in a future haul!
