Happy Monday morning! Grab a cup of coffee and let’s chat about some books!
Readathons
It’s a fun week for readathons! There is a little something for everyone this week.
1. Enchantathon
This is the readathon I plan to participate in this week! It’s hosted by Paige over at Creating & Co. There is also a Facebook group where sprints are ran and everyone can chat about the readathon. There are reading challenges, photo challenges, and a group read! For all of the readathon details check out the Goodreads group page here. I’m not posting a TBR because I’m only trying to read 2 books and they are listed below!
2. Fierce Female Readathon
This readathon is hosted by Ashley from Down the Book Hole. It started on the 15th but runs through the 28th, so there is still plenty of time to participate! There are tons of amazing hosts, giveaways, reading challenges, and tons of fun things going on! So definitely check out Ashley’s blog for all the details!
3. Thrillerathon
February has been full of all the lovey-dovey readathons, so if you’re sick of all the romance and contemporaries, this is the readathon for you! It’s hosted by Harriet Rosie and it runs this entire week! There are 6 reading challenges, so check out the twitter page for all the fun details!
New Releases
This isn’t the biggest week of releases (next week will be everything though!). But a couple of most anticipated February releases come out this week.
1. What He Never Knew (What He Doesn’t Know #3) by Kandi Steiner
Release Date: February 21st
This is one of my most anticipated books of the month! I completely fell in love with the original duology and was so excited when Kandi announced a sequel to finish out the series. I can’t talk in much detail, because the premise for this is a spoiler for What He Always Knew (book 2). But this is essentially the romance/happily ever after for the guy who doesn’t get the girl in the original series. I just finished the arc of this and it was AMAZING! My review will be coming on Wednesday so keep an eye out for that ♥
2. The Risk (Briar U #2) by Elle Kennedy
Release Date: February 18th
This is another highly anticipated release for me! I feel in love with Elle Kennedy’s books last year and have been binging them since. I just recently finished the Off-Campus series and plan to move on the Briar U series asap. This is a hockey romance series following players at Briar University, a fake-ivy league college.
3. Tarot by Marissa Kennerson
Release Date: February 19th
The premise of this intrigued me immediately. However this has definitely not received the greatest early reviews… This was my most anticipated list for February, and I still plan to pick it up, but I’m definitely a little leery about it. This sounds like a really unique fantasy. It follows a young woman trapped in a Tower where she weaves tapestries depicting a magical, fantasy world. When she is finally released from her tower, she discovers that she is the daughter of a Magician and the fantasy world she created is actually real.
4. The Past and Other Things That Should Stay Buried by Shaun David Hutchinson
Release Date: February 19th
This is the only book on this not currently on my TBR. I’m like the only person in the world who couldn’t get into his first book, We Are the Ants, so I feel no real draw to this book. However, I’m definitely in the minority here! This book has already been getting tons of buzz. This is a YA, LGBTQ+, magical realism (I believe) novel following a boy who’s family owns a funeral home. When his ex-best friend dies and comes back to life, they try to discover what is happened while confronting why their friendship ended.
Reading Update
February has been so slump-y for me reading-wise. I didn’t finish my first full book until last week and it was an audiobook that I devoured in a single day. And now I’m back on romance kick.
Recently Finished
1. Let’s Get Textual (Text #1) by Teagan Hunter
I devoured this entire audiobook in a day! It was such a fun, swoon-worthy romance! I just posted my full review, so check out that for my full thoughts.
2. What He Never Knew (What He Doesn’t Know #3) by Kandi Steiner
This is being released THIS WEEK! I was lucky enough to receive an e-arc of this and holy moly did I love this. It’s the happily ever after for the guy who doesn’t get the girl in book 2. My full review is coming Wednesday!
Currently Reading
1. I Wanna Text You Up (Text #2) by Teagan Hunter
This is my first book for the readathon! I picked this up on Hoopla immediately after finishing book 1. This series so damn adorable so I can’t wait to start this next one today!
Reading Next
1. The Blood Spell (Ravenspire #4)
This is the other book I’m reading for the Enchantathon but I’m still waiting for my library copy to come in. Hopefully it comes in soon, or I’ll be picking it up from Barnes and Noble this week. This is a YA, Cinderella retelling. It’s technically the fourth book in the series, however each of the books is considered a standalone. Also I love this cover.
What are you reading plans for the week?
