This readathon happens is hosted by Destiny from Howling Libraries and happens randomly on Goodreads! She will share the dates and prompt in the group right before the next round!

New Releases

Another good week for new releases!!

1. City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The best way I can describe this book is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and How I Met Your Mother. Overall this was a good, intriguing read but the end wasn’t has impactful and ‘wow’-ing as I had hoped.
Review Coming: June 5th

2. Sorcery of Thorns by Margret Rogerson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

3. The Rest of the Story by Sarah Dessen

My copy of this is on it’s way from Book of the Month and I’m SO excited!! This follows Emma who unexpectedly goes to stay with her maternal grandmother for the summer.

4. The Two-Week Arrangement by Kendall Ryan

This is an office romance between the CEO and his intern. And I’m so ready for this. I love office romances and forbidden romances. Mash them together I’m all over it. I’m planning to read this during Smutathon!

Reading Update + TBR!

Recently Finished

1. City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I already talked about this above. It was a good read but I wasn’t blown away. If you’re a historical fiction, literary fiction fan, this is definitely worth checking out!

2. Something Like Gravity by Amber Smith ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My favorite book of the May. This is a queer, YA contemporary about Chris, a trans boy, who goes to spend the summer with aunt in a small Southern town. There he meets Maia who recently lost her sister. This book is so soft and beautiful. Please, please check this out.
Review Coming June 13

3. The First Mistake by Sandie Jones ⭐️.5

I received an arc of this from Macmillan via Edelweiss+ in exchange for an honest review.

Oh man this awful. This is “mystery/thriller” that was neither mysterious nor thrilling. This is about Alice who thinks her husband is cheating (honestly this is entire plot up until the reveal in the last 10 pages). I barely even finished this. It’s been my least favorite read of the entire year so far.

4. Royals (Royals #1) by Rachel Hawkins ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I read this in preparation for June because I have book 2 on one of my many readeathon TBRs. I wasn’t originally interested in this book at all. But I’m so glad I picked it up! I devoured this book in one day. It was such a cute, witty, charming read. If you like quick YA contemporaries an royalty romances, definitely check this series out!!

5. This is Crazy by Natasha Madison DNF @ 10%

I received an arc of this from Wildfire Marketing in exchange for an honest review.

This was a massive hot mess. I honestly couldn’t stand anything about this – the writing was convoluted and wordy, the character list was massive and unclear, the dialogue was absolutely cringey, and if I had to hear the main character call her ex a “pencil dick” one more time I was going to break my Kindle.

Currently Reading

1. The Last of August (Charlotte Holmes #2) by Brittany Cavallaro

I picked this up on Hoopla on a whim because I wanted an audiobook and needed a romance break (especially with all the romance I’ll be reading next month!) I’m about a third through this as well.

What’s Next

This week is Smutathon so my TBR is posted here!!

What are your reading plans for the week??
