Books & Coffee: June 24 – 30

It’s the first full week of summer (and somehow the end of another month)! Here’s what’s going on this week ♥

RWRB

Readathons

Here are some readathons happening this week/month if you’re looking for one to participate in!

1. Summerathon: June 21 – 27

The Summerathon is hosted by a whole slew of amazing book people! Here’s a link to the twitter page with all the challenges, hosts, and extra info! This readathon is all about celebrating the start of summer with all the summer-y books.

New Releases

There are some great releases this week!

1. Call it What You Want by Brigid Kemmerer

I’m a terrible reviewer and am still working my way through this.. Fingers crossed I can finish this up today and post a review tomorrow for it’s release!

This is a YA contemporary following Rob who’s father is caught for embezzlement and attempts suicide. Rob meets overachiever Maegan when they are paired together for a project.

2. After the End by Clare Mackintosh

I don’t know a ton about this book, the synopsis is incredibly vague. But I’ve heard a lot about this author and want to give her books a try. This sounds like a hard, hitting contemporary about a couple who are pushed to their limits when their son gets sick.

Reading Update + TBR!

Recently Finished

If you saw my weekly update yesterday you saw that I read way more than normal this week. I got sick and did pretty much nothing but lie in bed and read.

1. On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I read this as the buddy read for Romanceathon and really enjoyed it! This is a forbidden romance about a 30 year old woman and 16 year old boy who survive a plane crash and become stranded on a deserted island in the Maldives. This book really surprised me!
Review Coming: June 28th

2. Irresistible (Cloverleigh Farms #1) by Melanie Harlow ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I accidentally read the second book in this series a couple months ago, so I decided to pick up the prequel. I actually enjoyed this one more than the sequel! This is a romance between the youngest daughter of the Cloverleigh family and the CFO of the farm who is a single father. This was really cute and steamy. And I’ll definitely continue with the series.
Review Coming: July 8th

3. On the Way to You by Kandi Steiner ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love Kandi Steiner. This is a backlist book of her’s I got in a bundle on Kindle Unlimited. This was cute but not my favorite book by her. This is road trip romance between 2 strangers who travel to Seattle together.
Review Coming: July 11th

4. My Life in Shambles by Karina Halle ⭐️⭐️.5

This unfortunately was my least favorite book of the week… I had such high hopes for this novel but it did not work for (which sucks even more because this cover is stunning!). This follows a woman who has hit a rough patch and travels to Ireland with her 2 sisters. Their she meets rugby player who is also going through a tough time. So she agrees to go back to his hometown and be his fake fiancé.
Review Coming: July 15th

5. We Contain Multitudes by Sarah Henstra ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This YA contemporary was so hard-hitting and difficult to read. I actually went into a teeny slump after because my emotions were all over the place. This follows 2 teenage boys who become pen pals for an English assignment. Their relationship grows but family secrets and high school threaten to tear them apart. Trigger warnings for literally everything you can imagine here.
Review Coming: July 17th (I know these are far out but I’m so behind on reviews…)

Currently Reading

1. Praying for Rain by B.B. Easton

I’m still 20% into this. I haven’t had a chance to pick it back up. I’m loving this so hopefully I can get back into this asap!

2. Call it What You Want by Brigid Kemmerer

I suck and still haven’t finished this even though it comes out tomorrow… I’ve heard great things about this but it’s very heavy and I just haven’t been in the mood for anything so intense. But I’m trying to finish this today!

3. Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

I’m (super) slowly making my way through this. But again I just haven’t been in the mood for anything this dark. I’m definitely planning to finish it this week!

What’s Next

I’m super burnt out from all the readathons this month. It’s been a ton of fun, but I’m looking forward to the break. So this last week, I’m planning to pick up some of the library books I have sitting around. Here’s the library books I have that I’ll be choosing from.

What are your reading plans for the week??
