2019 Releases: July – August

Holy cow it’s already time for the last of the summer releases! These 2 months are pretty slow release wise, and I even have 3 whole weeks were I don’t have any new releases on my radar.

RestOfTheStory

But then there are like 2/3 weeks that are completely jam packed! So it’s gonna be an interesting summer. Here’s what I’m anticipating this season!

As usual, these description are SUPER brief (otherwise this post would be forever long). But I linked the Goodreads page for each if you want to learn more!

July

July 2nd

1. Lock Every Door by Riley Sager

This is a thriller about apartment sitters for the rich and famous who are mysteriously going missing. I’ve heard great things about Riley Sager’s books!

2. The Whisper Network by Chandler Baker

This follows a group of women who are standing up against the promotion of their boss – a man who’s been surrounded by rumors about how he treats women.

3. We Came Here to Forget by Andrea Dunlop

This is a contemporary following an elite skier after a career ending accident. This follows her as she reinvents herself in Buenos Aires. This sounds so heartfelt and emotional.

July 9th

This is a full week!

1. Wilder Girls by Rory Power

This is being pitched as a sapphic YA, gender bent Lord of the Flies, horror novel. So I don’t need to know anything else.

2. The Storm Crow by Kalyn Josephson

This is a YA fantasy about elemental crows that have disappeared after an invasion. Until a new egg is discovered.

3. Maybe This Time by Kasie West

This follows the main character over the course of 1 year at 9 big events. And I’m sure in classic Kasie West fashion, it’ll be an adorable romance.

4. Under Currents by Nora Roberts

Nora Roberts is iconic romance. This follows a man who flees his hometown for college after a family blow up. Now he’s back home, facing the demons of his past with help from an artist named Darby.

5. The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman

This is an adult romance about a book-loving woman named Nina who is forced to break out of her introverted shell.

July 16th & 23rd

I have literally no new releases on my radar for these weeks! Hopefully I’ll use the time wisely to catch up on my massive TBR pile 🤞🏻

July 30th

Another packed week after a short break!

1. The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen

This is a YA fantasy following an unlikely trio – a mercy killer, the Crown Prince, and a bodyguard – trying to overthrow the Queen.

2. How to Hack a Heartbreak by Kristin Rockaway

This is about a female programmer (which is honestly all I needed to add this to my TBR) who writes her own dating app which goes viral overnight.

3. Someone We Know by Shari Lepena

I will read everything Shari Lepena writes. This is her latest mystery/thriller about a teenage boy sneaking into people’s houses and discovering their secrets.

4. Shatter the Sky by Rebecca Kim Wells

This is an LGBT, YA fantasy following a girl who trains with a dragon master to save her girlfriend after she was kidnapped.

August

Most of August is super slow but the first week of the month is completely INSANE!

August 6th

1. The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware

This is another auto-buy author for me. This is Ruth Ware’s latest mystery about a nanny who finds herself in prison for murder.

2. How the Light Gets in by Katy Upperman

This sounds like a hard-hitting YA contemporary (maybe slightly magical?). It follows a teenage girl in the aftermath of her sister’s tragic death.

3. Birthday Girl by Melissa de la Cruz

This is about a 40th birthday party. Everyone Ellie knows shows up in the desert and all the dark secret of her part are brought to light.

4. House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig

Another highly anticipated book of mine!! This follows Annaleigh who lives in a manor on the sea. Her sisters have been dying and she starts to believe their deaths aren’t an accident.

5. Say You Still Love Me by K.A. Tucker

This is an adult romance following a business woman who is struggling to be seen as more than “a good pair of legs”. And to make it worse, she has to work with her ex-fiance who is the VP of the company.

6. Swipe Right for Murder by Derek Milman

One of my most anticipated books of the year! This is a YA novel about a teenage boy who is mistaken a cyber terrorist and is on the run from the FBI. This sounds like such an action packed story and I can’t wait!

7. The Right Swipe by Alisha Rai

This is actually another story about a woman who creates a dating app! Rhiannon has no time for dating but then she meets pro-football player Samson and things get steamy.

August 13th

1. Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center

This follows Cassie who is a volunteer firefighter. But the crew doesn’t seem thrilled to have a “lady” on the team. Expect for the handsome young rookie..

2. The Downstairs Girls by Stacey Lee

This is about teenage girl who works as a handmaid during the day but moonlights as an anonymous author for the newspaper advice column. As her column’s popularity grows, her identity threatens to become known.

August 20th

Nothing this week either….

August 27th

1. Crown of Coral and Pearl by Mara Rutherford

This is a YA fantasy about Nor, who is sent to marry the Prince of Ilara. But the Prince is cold and standoffish, unlike his charismatic brother. Nor discovers secrets of the royal family and has to navigate the treacherous pitfalls of the court.

2. All the Bad Apples by Moira Fowley-Doyle

This follows Deena, who’s sister is missing and presumed dead. But Deena doesn’t believe her sister is dead, especially when she starts receiving mysterious letters from her.

What new releases are you excited about this summer??
