Hello August! My TBR for this month is a little different and little bit crazy. But I’m ridiculously excited about it!!
So there are a ton of fun things going on this month! So I’m gonna break this down in a couple sections – Buddy reads, 24 hour readathon, and Bookopoly. I’m also participating in the N.E.W.T.s readathon but I’m going to be posting my TBR for that separately!
Buddy Reads
1. Dragons and Tea Bookclub – The Swipe Right (Modern Love #1) by Alisha Rai
I’m SO excited for the pick this month! This book club is run by Mel from Meltotheany and Amy from A Court of Crowns and Quills and they have a page over on Goodreads as well as a new Instagram account! Every month they choose a book, they break down the pages/chapters, and we have discussions over on Goodreads. It’s a great time and I can’t wait to participate this round!
2. #DivinersReadalong – The Diviners by Libba Bray
I’m not gonna lie guys, I’m nervous about this one! I tried reading this once before but I’m very easily spooked. So I had to put it down. But I’ve heard such amazing things about this series, I really want to give it another shot. So I picked this up on audio on Scribd since everyone says the audiobook is one of the best.
24 Hour Readathon: August 2nd 8pm – August 3rd 8pm
I’m low-key participating in the 24 hour readathon this round to kick off my reading in August. Since I’m participating in Bookopoly with the book club I’m in, we thought this would be a fun way to start off with a bang. So we’re a few read along live chats and that, so it should be a good time! Here’s what I’m hoping to read!
1. How to Hack a Heartbreak by Kristin Rockaway
I got this as an arc on Netgalley but I suck and fell behind on all my arcs. This came out on Tuesday and I’ve heard a few things mixed things. I’m hoping to get this read and reviewed by the end of the weekend! This is a romance about a woman who writes a dating app. As a programmer myself, I’m ridiculously excited about this premise.
2. Skyward (Skyward #1) by Brandon Sanderson
This was my first roll/pick for Bookopoly (I’ll talk about this more in a second!). I’m definitely a little nervous about this. Science fiction is definitely outside of my comfort zone and this book is over 500 pages. So it should be an interesting read. This is YA, sci-fi about a teen girl who is determined to become a pilot to avenge her father.
3. The Diviners by Libba Bray
The readalong starts on Saturday! So I’m gonna try and make a dent in this as well 🙂
4. Next Roll!
If by some miracle I get through both of these books, I’m going to roll again for Bookopoly. Hopefully I get something that allows me to read one of my many, many upcoming arcs!
Bookopoly
So for anyone that doesn’t know Bookopoly is just like regular monopoly but with book prompts for each space. There are Chance cards with different reading prompts (that I personally chose) and Community Chest cards with other book club members’ favorite books. Then the standard colored spaces are genres and the specialty spaces (railroads, tax, etc) are prompts similar to Chance cards. Here’s a picture of my board!
My first roll landed me on Chance and I drew the prompt Highest Rated on TBR. Which is how I got Skyward – this has a 4.55 average rating on Goodreads! Which is insane.
My goal for Bookopoly is to read exclusively from my Netgalley list or physical TBR shelf. I chose only prompts/genres I was excited about or had books to fit. So hopefully it helps my reading game this month!
Here are some of the books I’m hoping to prioritize!
What are you reading plans for the month??
♥♥♥♥
I hope you have a great reading month!
