Omg I’m so excited for this readathon!!
Gilmore Girls is one of my favorite shows of all time so I was crazy excited to see this announced! Definitely check out the announcement video because it was easily the cutest intro I’ve ever seen.
This readathon was created by Olivia from Liv’s Library, Desi from Pastel Pages, and Mackenzie from Mackenzie Lane. So definitely check out their channels as they’re all amazing ♥
There are 2 choices for this readathon:
- Read as many books as you can off Rory’s reading list
- Complete the readathon challenges
I’m personally doing some of the reading challenges! But since I’m doing 9 million other readathons, I’m only doing 6 of the prompts and doubling up.
I’ll also be honest, some of these are a bit of a stretch but I’m rolling with it. And some of these are rolling over from Monsterathon because I didn’t finish everything I wanted to last month!
1. Book With a School Setting
I have 2 options of this challenge. I’m not sure what I’m going to be in the mood for/have time for, so I chose 1 e-arc and 1 audiobook. If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio blew up last year and it’s been on my TBR ever since. It follows a Shakespeare crew though (not my thing) so I’ve been leery to start this. My other option is The Furies by Katie Lowe. I have an arc copy of this so I need to read it asap… but this has pretty terrible reviews which makes me nervous. This is a boarding school, witchy story so hopefully I’m in the minority and love it!
2. Book With a Mother/Daughter Relationship
For this challenge I’m choosing The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden. Which is actually a daughter and step mother and their relationship is… not good. But I’m counting it anyways! This is an adult fantasy based of Russian folklore.
3. Cozy Book Set During Fall or Winter
For this I’m going to read Small Space by Katherine Arden. This is a middle grade, horror story that takes place in a cornfield. I’ve heard nothing but good things and since this is so short, it’s a perfect readathon book.
4. Book With a Complicated Love Interest
I decided to continue on with this series and read A Case for Jamie (Charlotte Holmes #3) by Brittany Cavallaro. This series is so much fun and they make for really quick audiobooks. I’m excited to see where this goes after the ending of book 2!
5. Book With an Asian Main Character or Asian Author
I’m going to try and read/listen to The Downstairs Girl by Stacey Lee. I got this a BOTM add on this month and I’ve heard so many good things! This is a historical fiction story about a southern, Asian American teen who starts writing an anonymous advice column. PS this cover is stunning.
6. Next Book in a Series
This is where I’m doubling up. I’m also using A Case for Jamie by Brittany Cavallaro for this!
Let me know in the comments if you’re participating! I’d love to check out your TBR!
