My reading habits have definitely changed since I started this blog/bookstagram!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.
1. ARCS!
I never thought I’d be receiving ARCs like I have over the last year! I got my first ever arc in January of 2018 and I was so dang excited! Now I not only receive them via Netgalley and Edelwiess+ but I get unsolicited packages from publishers and work with PR teams. I definitely had no idea when I created this page that it would lead to this and I’m so insanely grateful ♥
2. Reviews
My reviews have definitely evolved over the last couple years. I’m still working on pinning down the style that works best for me but I’m really proud of how my review process has improved.
3. Notes
Reading will forever be something I do for fun, I very rarely pick up a book without reviewing in mind. Because of that I’ve had to find a way to keep track of my thoughts as I read. The best approach I’ve found so far is to keep a notebook in my book sleeve where I write down thoughts and details as I read. I tab the notebook with each new book I pick up so that they’re easy to find when I have a thought or while I’m reviewing.
4. Annotating
I still can’t write in my books – yes I see the irony of this considering I dog ear my pages. But I’ve been really enjoying annotating use page flags and post-its. I like being able to jot down my first reactions as they happen. While I’m not a huge rereader, it’s fun to flip through some of my favorites and relive my first reactions.
5. Less Fantasy
When I first discovered Booktube/Bookstagram, fantasy was front and center. So I reached for tons of YA fantasy because I wanted to be able discuss the books everyone seemed to be reading. But over the last year or so, I’ve discovered fantasy (especially YA fantasy) is not always my genre. I’m SO much pickier now – ie I skip almost every royalty/lost princess story now.
6. New Favorite Genre!
But I also discovered by favorite genre – romance!! I never thought I’d be a romance junkie but I just can’t get enough of this genre.
7. Audiobooks
I still don’t read nearly as many audiobooks as other reviewers, but I definitely read way more than I ever did before. It used to take me weeks to finish a single audiobook (partly because I used to listen on default speed. Huge mistake). Now I love audiobooks! Listening to them on 2x speed is key!
8. Unhauling
I unhaul frequently. I used to collect and donate once a year but now that my book collection has increased so drastically, I donate books closer to 4 times a year. I love making room for new books I’m excited about reading.
9. Buying WAY Too Many Books
But I’m also buying books at an alarming rate haha. I’ve probably bought more books in this last year than in the last 10 years combined 😂😂
10. Kindle Unlimited
This year I discovered the wonder of KU!!
How have your reading habits changed?? Do we share any?
♥♥♥♥
I’ve started on audiobooks last year and reviewing/ARCs about two years ago, I think? Maybe three. I’m bad with time lol. It’s so much fun though and audiobooks are a good way of tying books and responsibilities lol
I think I read more genres too now? I used to go only for fantasy with an occasional romance and some of what school forced me to read but now I’m balancing it with some more genres 🙂

Yes audiobooks are such a good way to up your reading quantity since you can listen while doing house stuff or driving!
I’m trying to broaden my genre horizons but I just love romance and keep going back to it 😅
