Aesthetically Pleasing Book Tag

I love pretty books.

I found this tag on Alexandra Roselyn’s Booktube channel! I love talking about pretty book covers, so I decided to give this a go ♥

1. Best color combo on a book cover

I love dark covers with a single accent color. Bonus if it’s foiled 😍😍

2. Best typography/font on a book cover

The font for Love Lettering by Kate Clayborn just fits so perfectly with the book!

3. Best simple cover

I’m obsessed with the super simple dual tone cover for Her Royal Highness (Royal #2) by Rachel Hawkins.

4. Best endpages

The Grace Year by Kim Liggett! I’m obsessed with the navy background and bright red floral outlines

5. Best map

This also could have counted for the last question, I’m obsessed with the end page maps in The 7 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton.

6. Best naked hardback

In general this is one of the most stunning books on my shelf. But I nearly screamed when I saw the naked cover of The Deathless Girls by Kiran Millweed Hargrave. It’s just stunning

7. Best back cover

I could honestly use the Waterstones Exclusive edition of The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern for every prompt in this tag. But this back cover… is just stunning IMO.

8. Best chapter headers

I love the chapter headers for the entire Stalking Jack the Ripper series! But Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco is my favorite of series (although I don’t yet own the final book!)

9. Best illustrations

I actually struggled with this one… I don’t own many books with illustrations in them and I’ve only ever read a handful of graphic novels…  So I’m taking an obvious choice and saying Harry Potter. These are the US paperback editions with the original artwork at the chapter headers. These are the editions I grew up reading so they have a special place in my heart.

10. Best spine

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I love the spines of this series, especially stacked together.

11. Favorite cover on your shelves

My current favorite cover is The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E Harrow. I’m still obsessed.

What are some of your favorite covers??

    • I’ve owned it for months and I still have no idea what it’s actually about 😂😂 And right?? It’s so much fun gushing about pretty books sometimes. Cover artists and designers deserve praise too ❤👏
