Most Anticipated of 2020 Part 2!

Here are some of the upcoming releases I’m most excited about!

At the beginning of the year I shared my Most Anticipated for 2020. But at that time, there wasn’t much announced for the second half of the year. So most of the books on that list are now out (or were pushed back because of COVID).

So I decided to make a round 2 and share the books I’m most excited about that are releasing in the second half of the year!

In no particular order:

1. Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust

Release Date: July 7, 2020

Not only is this cover absolutely stunning, but this premise has me so hyped. This is a YA fantasy about a girl who is poisonous to the touch. She must who she is and who she wants to be. “Human or demon. Princess or monster.

2. A Deadly Education (Scholomance #1) by Naomi Novik

Release Date: September 29, 2020

Learning has never been this deadly

I’ve never read anything by Naomi Novik before but I’ve heard amazing things about this author! This premise has so many of my buzzwords! School setting, dark magic, demons/monsters, and secrets. I can’t wait to get my hands on this.

3. One by One by Ruth Ware

Release Date: September 8, 2020

Everything Ruth Ware releases will appear on my most anticipated lists! This next book is a suspenseful thriller that takes place on snow covered mountain where travelers are trapped after an avalanche. I love isolated thrillers so I’m really excited about this new release!

4. Well Played (Well Met #2) by Jen Deluca

Release Date: September 22, 2020

Well Met made my list of favorite 2019 debuts and I’ve been highly anticipating the sequel since finishing it. This is a really fun, lighthearted adult romance following a town that puts on a yearly renaissance faire. This book follows Stacy who is a friend of the characters from book 1. I can’t wait to be back in this world with these characters!

5. Horrid by Katrina Leno

Release Date: September 15, 2020

This is a YA horror novel that I’ve been anticipating for a long while. It follows a teen girl and her mother who move back to her mother’s home town. “Jane discovers that the “storage room” her mom has kept locked isn’t for storage at all–it’s a little girl’s bedroom, left untouched for years and not quite as empty of inhabitants as it appears….”. Plus I just desperately need to own this cover.

6. Crazy Stupid Bromance (Bromance Book Club #3) by Lyssa Kay Adams

Release Date: October 27, 2020

This series has become one of my favorite adult rom-com series! It follows a book club created by some of Nashville’s elite men where they read romance novels in order to help them improve their relationships and better understand women. This latest books follows Alexis who owns a cat cafe and Noah who is a computer programmer. I don’t think a book has ever more accurately matched my aesthetic 😅

7. Tools of Engagement (Hot & Hammered #3) by Tessa Bailey

Release Date: September 22, 2020

This is the third and final book in the Hot & Hammered series! This is a super steamy adult romance and this final book is an enemies to lovers romance! We met these two main characters in the previous book I’ve been itching to start this ever since! I can’t wait for all the hate to love goodness!

8. The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson

Release Date: July 21, 2020

This is a witchy, fantasy horror set in a rigid, puritanical society. A young woman is lured into the forbidden Darkwood where she discovers a journal written by her deceased mother. She learns of dark secrets of her mother’s past and the Church she’s put her trust in. “..if Bethel is to change, it must begin with her.” I’ve heard this book is extremely spooky and powerful!

9. Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow

Release Date: October 13, 2020

Alix E. Harrow’s debut novel was one of my favorite books of 2019 and I’ve been anxiously awaiting their next release ever since. This is another witchy fantasy that mixes feminist themes with magic. “Stalked by shadows and sickness, hunted by forces who will not suffer a witch to vote-and perhaps not even to live-the sisters will need to delve into the oldest magics, draw new alliances, and heal the bond between them if they want to survive.

10. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

Release Date: October 6, 2020

I won’t lie, I didn’t think I’d be picking up another V.E. Schwab book. But y’all this premise just called to me. This is an adult fantasy that follows a woman who makes a deal with a demon to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by anyone she meets. 300 years later, her life changes when she meets a man who remembers her.

11. Kingdom of the Wicked (Kingdom of the Wicked #1) by Kerri Maniscalco

Release Date: October 27, 2020

This is all I know about this book, and all I plan to know before diving in:

Two sisters.

One brutal murder.

A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself…

And an intoxicating romance.

What are some releases in the second half of 2020 you’re most excited for??
