The Concept

I totally got this idea from Ariel Bissett! So if you haven’t seen her video, definitely go check it out.

This is a 3 card spread and you can play along one of two ways:

  1. Chose one of the 3 cards that speaks to you. Don’t over think it, just chose which ever one your gut is telling you to.
  2. View this as virtual weekly or 3 card spread! A 3 card spread can be read many ways but the most common interpretations are:
    • Past, Present, Future
    • Mind, Body, Spirit
    • You, Me, Us
    • Stop, Start, Continue

The Spread

Now is the time to pick a card! I’ll read the cards from Left to Right. So feel free to skip to the card you pick or read them all!

Card 1: The Past

The first card is Father(King) of Swords

Another repeat!

Meaning

This card symbolizes structure, routine, logic, and power. Be analytical and fair minded! You should prioritize “mind over matter” and “head over heart”.

Recommendation

This is a really recent read for me that I thought would fit here perfectly because it explores logic, creativity, power, and what it means to be human.

The Sound of Stars by Alechia Dow

In this YA sci-fi, Earth is taken over by an alien race that doesn’t understand emotions. They are logical beings dedicated to wiping out humanity and restoring Earth to it’s previous glory. The main character strikes up an unlikely relationship with one of the aliens, Morris and discovers that they may not be as emotionless as originally thought.

This book is a love story to music, books, and the power of creativity.

Card 2: The Present

The second card is Daughter(Page) of Pentacles

Meaning

This card is all about new beginnings and setting goals! The daughter of pentacles is the bearer of good news. It represents a new start. Decide what you want and go for it! If you lay the groundwork now, you will achieve your long term goals.

Recommendation

This is another sequel recommendation, sorry. But it fits so perfectly and the entire series is wonderful!

Wild at Heart (Wild #2) by K.A. Tucker

This follow up to The Simple Wild follows Calla as she moves to Alaska. This story is all about new beginnings, finding where you belong, and discovering passion.

If you haven’t read this sequel or series yet I highly recommend checking it out! I read this on audio and the narration was absolutely fantastic.

Card 3: The Future

The final card is Mother(Queen) of Cups

The Meaning

The mother of cups represents femininity, love, warmth, and kindness. This card may be a sign to be more mindful of how your treat yourself and others. You may be feeling more sensitive or find yourself daydreaming. This card is sentimental, sensitive, and intuitive.

Recommendation

This one was really tricky! I don’t read many books that have this sort of sweet vibe. I read a lot more dark and gritty books. But I thought this one would fit pretty well!

The Mighty Heart of Sunny St. James by Ashley Herring Blake

I decided to recommend this book because 1) it’s an amazing middle grade novel and 2) this has a lot of focus on motherhood. Sunny St. James has never really known her mother and has been raised by her mother’s best friend Kate. This book really explores friendship and what it means to be family. It’s such a sweet and heartwarming middle grade contemporary!
