The Concept

I totally got this idea from Ariel Bissett! So if you haven’t seen her video, definitely go check it out.

This is a 3 card spread and you can play along one of two ways:

  1. Chose one of the 3 cards that speaks to you. Don’t over think it, just chose which ever one your gut is telling you to.
  2. View this as virtual weekly or 3 card spread! A 3 card spread can be read many ways but the most common interpretations are:
    • Past, Present, Future
    • Mind, Body, Spirit
    • You, Me, Us
    • Stop, Start, Continue

The Spread

Now is the time to pick a card! I’ll read the cards from Left to Right. So feel free to skip to the card you pick or read them all!

Card 1: The Past

The first card is THE LOVERS

Meaning

A beautiful and strong relationship is on the horizon! This may come in the form of a new relationship, harmony in a current relationship, or learning to love yourself. Find balance and nourish the relationships in your life.

Recommendation

For this card I really wanted to find a book that not only had an amazing romantic relationship, but also focused on self love.

Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall

This is an adult M/M romance about two men who enter into a fake relationship. One of the men needs a calm, steady significant other to clean up his image, while the other needs a buffer for an upcoming family event. This book was so soft and sweet. Not only does this have one of my favorite romantic relationships, but the two main characters grow so much as individuals as well.

Card 2: The Present

The second card is FATHER (KING) OF PENTACLES

Meaning

This card is all about prioritizing stability and calmness in your life. The Father of Pentacles is steady and gentle but also passionate. Now is the time to focus on bettering yourself and reaching your goals. See things through to the end!

Recommendation

This book is technically the 3rd in a series but this entire series can be read as standalones! The characters from the previous books are mentioned (it’s a friend group) but don’t actually play a roll in the plot.

Doughn’t Let Me Go (Slice #3) by Teagan Hunter

This a single father, nanny rom-com by one of my absolute favorite romance authors. Porter is such a steady main character and I loved his relationship with his adorable and hilarious daughter, Kyrie. This romance is steamy and sweet. And just like with every one of Hunter’s books, this had my laughing out loud.

Card 3: The Future

The final card is THE FOOL

The Meaning

The Fool symbolizes youth and new beginnings. It is your spontaneous and enthusiastic side. Others may doubt your abilities because of your inexperience. But you are on the verge of exciting and new adventures – just make sure to look before you leap!

Recommendation

This recommendation may or may not have a lot to do with the bird theme….

Blanca & Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore

This is my favorite book by this author! It follows 4 young characters who are struggling to deal with some really difficult things – familial responsibilities, abuse, identity, etc. This story is definitely on the more somber side but these characters are quite young and make a lot of spontaneous, rash decisions. It’s a book about learning who are and accepting yourself. It’s also one of them most beautiful written books I’ve ever read!
