Did I Read My Summer TBR??

Summer is just about over! Let’s see how I did on my seasonal TBR!

Summer officially ends on Monday!

Every season, I set a seasonal TBR full of books I think fit the time of year – you can check out my Summer TBR here!

Then at the end of the season I check in to see how many of those books I actually read in hopes of keeping myself accountable.

Here’s how this summer went!

1. A Song Below Water by Bethany C. Morrow

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

Unfortunately I didn’t love this one… I thought it had amazing commentary and a really unique concept, but lacked in world building.

2. Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo ❌

I sadly never got to this one… It was on a readathon TBR but kept getting pushed back for review copies or other priorities. Maybe some day!

3. Mayhem by Estelle Laure

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This was a physical arc I was highly anticipating. In theory this was everything I love and want in a YA light-fantasy. In execution it felt sort of directionless and didn’t quite hit the mark.

4. Daring and the Duke (The Bareknuckle Bastards #3) by Sarah MacLean

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Such a great conclusion to one of my favorite historical series! Definitely left me satisfied and missing these amazing characters.

5. A Murderous Relation (Veronica Speedwell #5) by Deanna Raybourn

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

This is one of my favorite series of all time and this one did not disappoint. It wasn’t quite my favorite of the series, but it was still a super solid edition!

6. Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust

Rating: 3 out of 5.

I didn’t love this one quite as much as everyone else but it was still a good YA fantasy. I just wish more time had been spent developing the relationships.

7. Burn Our Bodies Down by Rory Power

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

This was so ominous and compelling! I was definitely on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading this. Rory Power really goes to weird places and I’m all about it.

8. Home Before Dark by Riley Sager

Rating: 5 out of 5.

My new favorite Riley Sager book! This book was SO creepy and I loved it.

9. The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson

Rating: 5 out of 5.

ONE OF MY NEW FAVORITE BOOKS OF THE YEAR! This was everything I’ve ever wanted out of a dark witchy fantasy. It was so dark and so well paced. I was frantically flipping pages by the end.

10. Where Dreams Descend (Kingdom of Cards #1) by Janella Angeles ✅

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This was on track to be new 5 star read but I’m still reeling and confused by this ending! I need the sequel in my hands ASAP!

9/10 is hands down the best I’ve ever done on a seasonal TBR! I’m so proud of myself for sticking to this!

Hopefully Fall’s TBR goes just as well!

Let me know in the comments what you read this season and what some of your favorite books were!
