Top Ten Tuesday: Books On My Fall TBR

It’s my favorite time of year 👻

Fall is my absolutely favorite time of the year! And it’s my favorite time for reading! I love all the cozy, spooky, atmospheric vibes during the fall season.

So this list was crazy hard to narrow down to only 10 books!

I tried to get a good mix between ARCs and backlist titles since I have a ton of both on my TBR for the next could months.

First – here are 5 e-arcs I’m DESPERATE to finally dive into!

1. The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue by V.E. Schwab

This is an adult fantasy following a woman who makes a deal with the devil to live forever but is cursed so that no one remembers her. Then after 300 years, a man mysteriously recognizes her.

I’ve had a harrowed past with Schwab’s work – but this premise is SO INTRIGUING. So I’m really interested to see how I get on with her writing.

2. The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow

Alix E. Harrow’s debut novel quickly made my favorite-all-time list. So I’m ridiculously excited to see what they do in their sophomore novel.

This follows a group of sisters in the 1880s fighting for women’s (and witch’s) rights.

3. Kingdom of the Wicked (Kingdom of the Wicked #1) by Kerri Maniscalco

Kerri Maniscalco’s books always scream fall to me (and this isn’t the only book by her on this list). I’ve been successfully avoiding the synopsis of this for ages because I don’t want to know anything beyond this pitch –

Two sisters.

One brutal murder.

A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself…

And an intoxicating romance.

4. Crazy Stupid Bromance (Bromance Book Club #3) by Lyssa Kay Adams

This is the third book in the Bromance Book Club series which follows a group of prominent Nashville men who read romance novels to better understand the women in their life. This sequel follows the romance between a programmer and the owner of a cat cafe.

5. Love is a Rogue (Wallflowers vs. Rogues #1) by Lenora Bell

This is a historical romance that takes place in a gothic manor between a bookish, wallflower and ex-navy construction man. This sounds like a really fun romance to mix in with all the spooky, magical reads this season.

Next are 5 backlist/new release titles I’m excited about that feel like perfect spooky-time reads!

6. Strange Grace by Tessa Gratton

This is a YA fantasy I’ve heard a ton of mixed things about. It follows a village who made a deal with the devil and sacrifices one boy every year on Slaughter Moon. It’s sounds really spooky, and atmospheric, and perfect for this time of year.

7. Ninth House (Alex Stern #1) by Leigh Bardugo

This is another book that’s gotten tons of mixed reviews. I was really hyped for this when it released last year but when everyone started saying it didn’t live up, I put to the side. Now that some of the hype has worn off, I really want to give this adult, secret society fantasy a read!

8. Capturing the Devil (Stalking Jack the Ripper #4) by Kerri Maniscalco

I’m so excited to finally be finishing this series! I owned the first 3 books in paperback so I’ve been waiting for this final book to release in paperback so I had a matching set. And it’s finally here! I can’t wait to see how everything wraps up in the creepy YA historical mystery series.

9. Horrid by Katrina Leno

I’m fairly certain this is coming in a book box later this month. It’s one of my favorite creepy covers ever and one of my most anticipated September releases. This is a YA horror novel about a girl who returns to her mother’s childhood home only to discover dark and terrifying things.

10. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

I’m actually reading this new release this week! As I said in my Buzzwordathon TBR, this is another book I don’t know much about because it’s by an author I’ve previously loved. From what I’ve heard from other reviewers through, it’s fantastic and a tear jerker.

Great list! Ninth House is on my TBR, too. 🙂 Horrid, The Once and Future Witches and Kingdom of the Wicked are all books I want to check out, and I’m so intrigued by V.E. Schwab’s new book. I tend to love her premises and then don’t click with her writing style, so I think I’m going to wait until I can borrow it from the library. Happy reading!

We have so many fall tbr books in common!!

I’m definitely nervous about that with this new Schwab book too… I love her middle grade serious but gave Vicious 3 stars and DNF’d the Darker Shade of Magic series like 200 pgs into book 1 🙈

It’s an older title that got a lot of mixed/negative reviews. But it’s also a favorite of some other reviewers I love. So I have my fingers crossed I fall in that category 😅 Hope you have an amazing fall ❤❤❤

So I am not one to read Sci-fi or fantasy but Ninth House was really good. Had to read it for book club and I think everyone in group liked it. We had a lot to discuss. Great list!
