Last wrap up of the year!
2020 is FINALLY over! Unfortunately my reading didn’t exactly go out with a bang 😅 I’ve been mildly slumpy the last 2 months so this was another nearly audio-exclusive month. Oh well.
Here’s what I read!

The Books
1. Mistletoe and Mr. Right (Moose Springs, Alaska #2) by Sarah Morgenthaler
This is the follow up/companion to The Tourist Attraction. This rom-com series definitely has it faults and is hella over the top and cheesy. But I enjoyed this ridiculous Christmas-y romance. I thought it was sweet and I really enjoy this town’s crazy antics. But I definitely understand why so many people dislike this book/series. Definitely go into this series with the right expectations if you decide to pick it up!
2. Archangel’s Heart (Guild Hunter #9) by Nalini Singh
It’s funny, I consider this one of my favorite paranormal romance series but for some reason I give like every book 3.5/4 stars…. This book was a lot of setup. We got some really interesting history about Elena and her family! But a lot of this felt like we were learning about the stuff we needed to know for what comes next. This entire series is narrated by Justine Eyre – my favorite narrator ever. So I just want to binge listen to this for forever.
3. How to Fail at Flirting by Denise Williams
OMG this was easily my favorite book of the month! I was so excited for this December release and I was not disappointed. This is a romance between an uptight college professor struggling to deal with some dark things from her past and a man who could ruin the career she loves. The chemistry between these two characters was off the charts. I laughed, I swooned, I screamed. This book had me feeling all the emotions.
Definite trigger warnings for attempted rape and abusive relationships!
4-6. Opal (Lux #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I decided to binge the rest of the Lux series since I was feeling slumpy and needed something to listen to while I did Christmas cross stitch projects. This series was… fine. I love JLA and her books are super addictive. But this one wasn’t really my style. I thought it was a little pandering (all the book blog stuff drove me crazy…) and crazy cheesy. Although it was written in the mid 2000’s so I’m cutting it a little slack. The end of this series was fun, but to be totally honest, I couldn’t tell you the plot of any one of these books at this point. And I finished them like 2 weeks ago.
7. In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren
I LOVED this holiday romance. Based on the reviews I’ve seen, this Groundhog’s Day meets Christmas mashup didn’t quite work for everyone. But I read this as a time where this book was exactly what I needed it. It’s a really sweet, heartwarming friends to lovers romance that just put me in the best holiday spirit. Not only did the romance itself capture me, but I loved the familial and platonic friendships in here as well. It was just a great time overall.
8. Gifting Me to His Best Friend (Touch of Taboo #2) by Katee Robert
Unrated
Man, Katee Robert is the queen of smut. This book was hella steamy. Wowza. This follows a married couple who invite their best friend into their relationship during their Christmas getaway. When the threesome is snowed in at the cabin, they realize they might not be able to end things after the holiday. This book is like 90% sex so I can’t rate it. But no one does it like Katee Robert.
9. The Ravens by Kass Morgan & Danielle Paige
Okay this book really surprised me! I had kind of thought about taking this off my TBR because I was questioning if it was something I was going to enjoy. But when I was approved for an ALC (advanced listener copy) I decided to give it a read. And I had SO MUCH FUN. This is an upper YA/new adult urban fantasy following a secret sorority of witches. It’s dual POV and follows some sinister happenings during rush season. This book wasn’t without fault, but it was just so enjoyable. It’s like candy – you might not feel great after, but you just can’t stop devouring it. I can’t wait for the sequel!!
10. Archangel’s Viper (Guild Hunter #10) by Nalini Singh
Another Guild Hunter audiobook! This one followed one of my least favorite characters – Viper. I think I’m in the minority on that opinion but I just don’t have strong feelings toward him… This was a fun installment but far from my favorite. And definitely light on the romance. This one was far more focused on Holly (Sorrow) and her background and impact on the world than anything else. But the buildup in these last 3 books has me SO excited for the next few books. I think things are about to get real wild.
11. Forever Wild (Simpled Wild #2.5) by K.A. Tucker
This novella was the last thing I read this month. It was a holiday novella that takes places in the Simple Wild world and it was everything I wanted. I love these character so dang much and seeing this final wrap up was amazing. I definitely teared up at the end! And I’m super excited that we’re getting a spinoff series!
What was your favorite book of December?? I hope you all had a great end to the year!
♥♥♥♥
I loved, loved, loved Lux. I still do 😂 I actually want to re-read the series eventually. And I still need to read Jen’s spin-off series with Luc. Apparently it is really good!!
