Happy New Year’s Eve!! 🎉
This year was…. unexpected. And awful. But I read a hell of a lot of books. Here’s the breakdown –
Total books: 185
Total Pages read: 61,077
Average rating: 3.7
Rating Breakdown
This obviously doesn’t account for half star ratings, but it gives a good general picture.
Stats in Pie Charts!
All of these charts were 100% accurate as of December 27 when I read 185 books. I had to cut it off to give myself enough time to make the graphs and write this post.
If you’re a stats lover this is the section for you 😅 Here are a bunch of pie charts showing my reading breakdown.
Rating
Monthly Breakdown
This is surprisingly even… Although you can clearly see when I went into lockdown in April and read ALL THE BOOKS. Things have definitely slowed way down toward the end of the year. I got a bit slumpy at the end of September..
Release Date
I broke this into 3 categories – this year, last year, and backlist. I didn’t read any 2021 books yet (I honesty just didn’t want to have a 2021 release on any of my end of the year lists)
The vast majority of my reading was new releases!
Format
I broke this down into 4 groups – Physical books, Audiobooks, ARCs, and Ebooks (KU, purchased, etc)
If a book was an ARC I marked it as so, regardless of how I read it.
Genre
I got kinda specific with this one this year. So here’s the genres and how I defined them –
- Contemporary – anything set in present day where the focus wasn’t romance
- Contemporary romance
- Mystery (historical mysteries are in here as well)
- Fantasy/PNR
- Fantasy
- Sci Fi
- Nonfiction
- Magical – slightly magical stories set in the real world (Legendborn, Winterwood, etc)
- Thriller/Horror
- Historical Romance
- Historical – anything historically based that didn’t focus on a mystery or romance
Age Range
This is probably my biggest surprise. I had no idea that I read so much more adult that YA this year… I feel like I read a lot of YA but apparently not so much 😅

Here are some other random facts/stats/lists!

That’s a wrap on 2020! (Thank fucking god….) Here’s hoping 2021 is a little less of a garbage fire!
Have a safe and happy new year!
