Tarot Cards Pick You Book Recommendation!

Happy Monday! Time to kick off the week with some new recommendations ♥

NOTE: I have links to places you can purchase these books – these are NOT affiliate links! While I do receive ALC copies from Libro.fm, I do not receive anything if you purchase from them.

However, if you would like to start an Libro.fm account, you can use my referral link for 1 free audiobook!

The Concept

I originally got this idea from Ariel Bissett! So if you haven’t seen her video, definitely head over to her channel.

This is a 3 card spread and you can play along one of two ways:

  1. Chose one of the 3 cards that speaks to you. Don’t over think it, just chose which ever one your gut is telling you to.
  2. View this as virtual weekly or 3 card spread! A 3 card spread can be read many ways but the most common interpretations are:
    • Past, Present, Future
    • Mind, Body, Spirit
    • You, Me, Us
    • Stop, Start, Continue

UPDATES: One of the things I’m changing this year is I’ll be including some video/story footage over on my Instagram. So if you want to watch that or pick a card over video, the story will be saved to a highlight all week ❤️

The Spread

Now is the time to pick a card! I’ll read the cards from Left to Right. So feel free to skip to the card you pick or read them all!

Card 1: ‘The Past’

The first card is: DAUGHTER OF PENTACLES

The Daughter (or Page) of Pentacles is responsible, grounded, loyal, and supportive. It’s a sign of dependability, hard work, and inner strength. This card is a bearer of good news – good things are ahead. Now is the perfect time to lay the foundation for future success. Take this time to think about and set some long term goals!

Recommendation

The Henna Wars by Adiba Jaigirdor

If the daughter of pentacles is a person, it’s often depicting a younger person, often female. So not only does this book capture the essence of the card, but it captures the physically representation as well.

The Henna Wars follows a young Bangladeshi girl who is learning to rectify her identity with her heritage. All against the backdrop of high school.

Throughout this book, Nishat is working on a school competition and building a henna business.

Nishat is loyal to her family and friends, and works so hard to please everyone. Even at the detriment of keeping who she is a hidden. She’s also doing a lot of internal work throughout this story – learning to accept herself, call out the microaggressions of her classmates, and balance her life in general.

Card 2: ‘The Present’

The second card is: 7 OF CUPS

This is not the most welcomed card… The 7 of cups is all about illusion and deception. You are facing temptations and an overwhelming amount of choices. When there are this many options, it’s difficult to think and see clearly. Step back and be realistic about what you can commit to.

Recommendation

I went back and forth on how to interpret this card and what to recommend. But in the end I went with –

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

This book is all about decisions. This speculative fiction novel is full of heavy discussions and life changing choices. Trigger warnings for anxiety, depression, death, and suicide.

This follows the main character Nora who finds herself in a library between life and death. There she is able to “try on” other lives and versions of herself all by asking – what if I did this differently?

Matt Haig’s exploration of mental health, fulfillment, and alternate realities is outstanding and stunningly written.

Card 3: ‘The Future’

The final card is: ACE OF SWORDS

It direct contrast to card 2, the Ace of Swords is a sign of clarity. You mind and focus is clear. This is a great time to make decisions! It’s a time to begin new projects and brainstorm new ideas. Be assertive in your choices!

Recommendation

This card was really difficult to find a book for… While these types of cards are desirable for a tarot reading, they make for tricky book recommendations. But in the end I chose –

Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series by Holly Jackson

Stick with me on this one 😅 I chose this book/series because the main character is hyper focused on her new project.

In the first book, Pip decided to cold her town’s cold case for her senior project. Then in book 2, she returns to detective work in hopes of finding her friend’s missing brother.

Pip is determined to bring the truth to light and bring justice for the victims. This mystery is fantastically plotted and paced and I’ve been blown away by the reveals each time.

Plus if you’re an audiobook lover – this series has a full cast as well as audio effects and podcast elements. It’s one of my favorite audiobooks of all time!

What card did you pick and did the meaning/recommendation fit for you??
