Back in March I created a Spring TBR list of books I wanted to get to in spring. And now that summer is starting, it’s time to look back on that list and see what I actually read.
I’m usually pretty solid at sticking to this list. But y’all… this season was a bit of a failure 😅
I don’t know what happened but I just did not read the books on this list….
❌ 1. Crown of Gilded Bones (Blood & Ash #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I’m counting this as a fail but technically I did start reading this. But I got halfway through, put it down, and haven’t returned to it since.
Not to be controversial, but this is not my favorite series by the author… I feel like these books are so. dang. slow. And overall, way too long. I just got really bored in the middle and while I’ve heard it picks up, I just haven’t felt the urge to return to it quite yet.
❌ 2. The Box in the Woods (Truly Devious #4) by Maureen Johnson
This is another fail but not because I didn’t get to the book. My dumbass didn’t pay attention to the release date or something when I made my spring TBR because this just released yesterday… 🤦♀️
So I moved this to my Summer TBR!
❌ 3. Fire (Graceling #2) by Kristin Cashore
Another book I didn’t read… I had every intention of picking this up. But time got away from me and other things got prioritized.
✅ 4. Chasing Cassandra (The Ravenels #6) by Lisa Kleypas
Finally a book I read! I listened to this on audio and while it wasn’t my favorite of the series, I enjoyed this. I’m excited that I’m caught up in time for the new book releasing this summer!
✅ 5. Good Girl, Bad Blood (A Good Girls Guide to Murder #2) by Holly Jackson
Like the previous book in this series, this book will probably make my favorite of the year list. This mystery series is so fantastic. And I cried…
✅ 6. The People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry
Probably my favorite book of the entire year. I loved this. I swooned. I cried. It was everything I hoped for and more.
❌ 7. Twice Shy by Sarah Hogle
Gah! I have no idea why I haven’t read this. It’s like 200 pages but for some reason I just keep putting it off…
❌ 8. House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland
Another 5 star prediction I keep putting off… At this point I might just wait to read this until September-ish for spooky season.
✅ 9. The Intimacy Experiment by Rosie Danan
I’m just now realizing that while I didn’t read many books on this list, almost every single one I did read was 5 stars. New favorite. Amazing. Go read it.
✅ 10. Heartstopper: Volume 4 by Alice Oseman
I don’t think it’s possible to give a volume in this series anything but a 5 star. It’s just so damn heartwarming.
Alright so I read 5/10 books on my Spring TBR. Which is a failing grade. BUT! 4 of those were 5 star reads. So maybe it was a win.
