I read some amazing books this past season.
I’ve had quite an amazing reading year so far. I was looking back through the 78 books I’ve read so far and the lowest rating I’ve given out this year is a 3 star… who even am I?!
In the last 3 months I’ve had SEVEN 5 star books, TWO 5 star rereads, and THREE 4.5 star books. That is completely insane.
Minor reflection time: This is my like 4th year in the book community and I’m finally honing in on what types of books I love. So I’ve found that my ratings are going up because I’m more particular about the books I’m picking up. I still get a few duds now and again, but I’m much more ruthless about simply DNFing those.
Anyways – I had a super hard time narrowing this down. So I have my top 6 reads of Spring plus 3 quick honorable mentions
Honorable Mentions
These were all amazing and got a rating 4.5 or higher.
Favorite Books of Spring
These are listed in the order I read them. Any reviews I have are linked as well as the Goodreads page!
Good Girl, Bad Blood (A Good Girls Guide to Murder #2) by Holly Jackson
I’m only realizing right now while writing this post that I never actually reviewed this book… Oops.
In my opinion this series is YA mystery perfection. It’s suspenseful, expertly crafted with amazing twists, and emotionally impactful. This book in particular explores the mental impact solving these cases has on the main character and it is heart wrenching. I definitely cried at the end.
Book 3 release in the US this summer and I absolutely can’t wait.
The Intimacy Experiment (The Roommate #2) by Rosie Danan
Contemporary romance perfection. If you want a powerful female heroine, a swoony soft hero, and loads of commentary on societal taboos surrounding sex – pick this up.
Heated Rivalry (Game Changers #2) by Rachel Reid
This is enemies to lovers at it finest! I loved the slow burn of this romance. The characters are in a physical relationship from the get-go but watching them catch feelings and fall for each other was everything.
People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry
If the last book was the perfect enemies to lover book, this is the perfect friends to lovers book! As of right now this is my favorite book of the year. It’s going to be hard to beat!
One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston
Casey McQuiston can do no wrong. This book is unapologetically queer AF with hilarious banter, found family, and the perfect speculative twist. I devoured this story!
The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels (Dangerous Damsels by India Holton
Easily the biggest surprise on this list! I love historical romance but I rarely love them. But this fantasy twist to Victorian London took me a crazy adventure. This book is SO strange and completely unique but I just loved every second.
There’s pirates who fly houses, proper tea-drinking ladies, bad Bronte quotes, and a slow burn romance between an assassin the women he’s supposed to kill.
What was the best book you read this spring? Have your read any of these / are they on your TBR?
