Summer is finally here! Every year, and every season, I compile a list of book recommendations to get you into the spirit of the season. And it’s finally time for beach reads!

I’ve done 2 other summer reading recs so check out 2020 and 2019‘s posts for even more book recommendations!

Here are 10 books to get lost in during longs summer days outside and or while relaxing at the beach.

1. The Nature of Witches by Rachel Griffin

This book technically takes place across all the seasons, but something about this witchy urban fantasy just screams summer read to me.

Read this if you love: Witches, Unique elemental magic, Global Warming commentary, Swoony romance, Character growth, Journey to self-acceptance


2. You Have a Match by Emma Lord

This YA contemporary is set at summer camp! It doesn’t get much more seasonal than that.

Read this if you love: Sisters, Friends lovers, F/F romance, Family drama (LOTS of it!), Summer camp vibes


3. People We Meet Vacation by Emily Henry

This is the absolute perfect beach read from one of my all-time favorite authors. And since many of use still aren’t traveling as much as we’d like, this fantastic escape!

4. The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins

I read the majority of my thrillers during the fall season, but some thrillers are fantastic to binge on the beach or during a lazy long day. That’s definitely the case with this one!

Read this if you love: An amazing audiobook, Classic retelling, Rich people drama, Morally grey heroine


5. The Night Swim by Megan Goldin

Another thriller that is perfect for summer since the entire thing is set at a beach town!

Read this if you love: Social commentary (rape culture), Podcast element, An amazing audiobook (the podcast elements sound like legit podcasts!)


6. Truth or Dare by Danielle Allen

What better to read at a beach than a romance literally set on the beach?!

7. Home Before Dark by Riley Sager

Another great summer thriller!

Read this if you love: Being scared, Haunted house, Book inside of a book, Crazy twists


8. Hang the Moon by Alexandria Bellefleur

Technically this is the second book in a companion series, but these don’t need to be read in order!

9. The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels by India Holton

Hands down one of the most unique stories I’ve ever read! This is the perfect book if you’re looking for something fun to read this summer.

Read this if you love: Historical romance, Low fantasy, Pirates, Sassy Victorian women, Tea, Enemies to Lovers (when one or both are set out to kill the other)


10. Dear Emmie Blu by Lia Louis

  1. I have People We Meet Vacation by Emily Henry on my summer list for this year, I enjoyed the last book I read by Henry so much! I agree so much with what you said Home Before Dark is really is a great summer thriller. Great list!
