September readathon TBR #2!

This readathon is a collaboration between A Touch of Whimsy and Middle Grade Monthly!

Each round of the readathon will take place in a different magical world. This round is Wonderland.

This runs for the entire month of September and has 7 prompts, or locations on the map, to complete.

Before we get into the TBR, I just wanted to warn you that I know literally nothing about any of these books 😅 I’m really new to middle grade and don’t want to go in with any expectations. So I just took rec’s from other reviewers and searched through Goodreads for spooky/fantastical middle grades.

But I did link the Goodreads for each of these if you want to check out the synopses!

1. Down the Rabbit Hole: Read a book set in another world

Coraline by Neil Gaiman

I’ve seen the movie for this countless times, but I’ve never read the book! I bought this gorgeous UK paperback edition with illustrations, so I’m really excite to give this a read!

2. Flower Garden: Read an aesthetically pleasing book

The House With the Chicken Legs by Sophie Anderson

I’m assuming this is a middle grade retelling of Baba Yaga. I immediately purchased this UK paperback edition because this cover is to die for.

3. Eat Me, Drink Me: Make yourself a cozy reading snack

I’ll share pictures of whatever I decide to make on my Instagram and in my wrap up!

4. The White Rabbit’s House: Pick up a book for a cozy night in

A Pinch of Magic (A Pinch of Magic #1) by Michelle Harrison

I’ve seen Jade’s absolutely rave about this on her channel! I know nothing about it, but it’s another one I bought because of this STUNNING cover.

5. The Queen of Heart’s Palace: Pick a book you think you’ll love

The Trials of Morrigan Crow (Nevermoor #1) by Jessica Townsend

I’ve seen this one around a LOT and have heard great things! So it’s definitely one that I think I will love too.

6. Cheshire Cat: Pick a strange and mysterious book

The Mystery of Black Hollow Lane (Black Hollow Lane #1) by Julia Nobel

I believe this takes place at a boarding school and that’s really all I need to know. I figured something with the word ‘Mystery’ in the would be perfect for this challenge!

7. The Mad hatter’s Tea Party: Join the live costume party!

The live show is scheduled for October 3rd. So definitely make sure you’re following the hosts on Youtube!
