Happy February! ❤️
If you missed it last month or in my 2021 goals post – everything month I’m drawing 6 TBR challenges. Each challenge has some sort of prompt on it and I need to pick a book I already own in some capacity to fit that prompt – no buying new books OR requesting books. I want to prioritize all the books already on my shelves.
So my TBR will be broken into 3 sections: challenge books, ARCS, and any additional books (buddy reads, book clubs, etc)
TBR Challenges
Challenge 1. LGBTQIA+ – Beyond the Ruby Veil by Mara Fitzgerald
This is the first book in a new sapphic dark fantasy series. Madison Mary (Princess of Paperback) gave this 5 stars so I picked it up on a whim 😅
Challenge 2: Starts With the Letter “U” – A Universe of Wishes by Dhonielle Clayton
This prompt could have been super disastrous! Luckily I really need/want to read this YA anthology. It’s all about diversifying fantasy and it has some amazing authors featured!
Challenges 3: New Release – The Mystery of Mrs. Christie by Marie Benedict
I won’t lie to you – Sourcebooks totally got me with one of their Youtube ads 😅 This is a December 2020 release all about the week that Agatha Christie went missing. I’m hella intrigued.
Challenge 4: Set in the Past – Hello Stranger (The Ravenels #4) by Lisa Kleypas
I’m really excited about this next book in the Ravenels series because it follows some newer characters. I love Dr Gibbson and can’t wait to read her story.
Challenge 5: Romance – Much Ado About You by Samantha Young
This is an e-ARC but releases right away on February 2nd. So this will probably be one of the first things I read this month. It’s a rom-com set a small English bookstore – so it’s essentially the perfect setup.
Challenge 6 : Matches Shirt (Red/Burgundy) – Among the Beast and Briars by Ashley Poston
I have the Owlcrate edition of this book which is this beautiful black and burgundy edition with sprayed that matched my shirt pretty much perfectly (check out my IG highlight if you want to see me pull the prompts!)
ARCs
I have quite a few arcs to get to in February (besides Much Ado About You which I’ve already talked about.
1. What Big Teeth by Rose Szabo
Release Date: February 2
This is a YA horror/fantasy that’s being compared to the Addams Family.
2. The Witch’s Heart by Genevieve Gornichec
Release Date: February 9
An adult historical fantasy featuring a romance between a witch and Loki.
3. The Burning Girls by C.J. Tudor
Release Date: February 9
Thriller about cults, missing girls, and I’m assuming a classic C.J. Tudor slightly paranormal twist.
4. A Lady’s Formula for Love (The Secret Scientists of London #1) by Elizabeth Everett
Release Date: February 9
Historical romance featuring female scientists! We love to see it.
5. The Echo Wife by Sarah Gailey
Release Date: February 16
A domestic sci-fi featuring clones, (more) female scientists, and cheating husbands.
6. A Dark and Hollow Star (A Dark and Hollow Star #1) by Ashley Shuttleworth
Release Date: February 23
The start of a new YA Fae fantasy series!
7. It’s Been a Pleasure, Noni Blake by Claire Christian
Release Date: February 23
An adult contemporary romance about a woman who decides to finally prioritize herself after a decade long relationship ends.
8. Love at First by Kate Clayborn
Release Date: February 23
Another adult contemporary romance about New York City neighbors who fall in love.
9. Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers
Release Date: February 23 (unless you join BOTM to get it now!)
Last but not least! This is another adult contemporary romance featuring a female scientist! This one is about a woman who accidentally finds herself married to woman whose name she doesn’t know after a drunken night in Vegas.
Buzzwordathon – Colors
This month’s prompt is to read books with colors in the title. Which I definitely have!
1. Black Sun (Between Earth and Sky #1) by Rebecca Roanhorse
I’m also reading this for a buddy read over on Elliot Brook’s Patreon. AND it’s a late ARC that I need to finally review so this tics a lot of boxes.
2. A Court of Silver Flames (ACOTAR #4) by Sarah J. Maas
Of course I’ll be reading this immediately upon getting my grimy paws on it. I have no shame. (Despite this cover being the biggest publishing tragedy to hit 2021….)
3. Beyond the Ruby Veil by Mara Fitzgerald
I’ve already mentioned this but it fits here too!
Book Clubs, Buddy Reads, Etc
1. Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass #1) by Sarah J. Maas
I’m participating in ToG-Along throughout the year and I’m really excited to reread this entire series!
2. The Space Between Worlds by Micah Johnson
This is the February pick for the Fae’s and Gays bookclub. And it’s also my newest BOTM addition!
3. Graceling (Graceling Realm #1) by Kristin Cashore
This has been on so many TBRs 😅 But I’m determined to read it this month!
4. Wicked (A Wicked Trilogy #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
By the time this is posted I’ve probably either started or finished this already. I have it on Libby from my library and only get audiobooks for 7 days on there. So I’m starting this today (the last day of January).
Is a 20 book TBR realistic for the shortest month of the year? Not really 😅 But we’re going with it! Hopefully I can get make decent dent in this list!
What are you planning to read in February?
♥♥♥♥
What Big Teeth is on my wishlist! I have so many books to read this February I’m not sure I’ll get to everything.

You have some absolutely fantastic reads lined up for February. I hope you get to them all and enjoy them! I’d love to read What Big Teeth but I have banned myself from checking Netgalley until I have gotten through what I already need to read lol 🙂

It’s the epitome of a “guilty pleasure” read 😅 It was super cheesy and trope-y and predictable and super loved it 😂 I’m actually about to start book 2!
