Tome Topple TBR

It’s almost time for round 14 of Tome Topple!

If you haven’t heard of Tome Topple is a readathon created by Sam from Thoughts on Tomes all about reading books over 500 pages. That’s the only rule! She does have a whole, amazing bingo card with prompts and different levels you can reach depending on the number of books you read – but for this round I’m just planning to prioritize some of the big books on my shelves (sans prompts).

Big books intimidate me. So I’m using this as a necessary push to finally pick some of these up.

The Details

When: March 15-28
Who: Sam from Thoughts on Tomes
Where: Twitter Page

Here’s what I’m hoping to read!

1. Witches Steeped in Gold by Ciannon Smart

Pages: 560

Thank you so much to HarperTeen and Edelweiss+ for an advanced copy!

This YA Jamaican-Inspired fantasy is about 2 witches and sworn enemies that form a potentially deadly alliance to exact their revenge. I know literally nothing else but this cover, mixed with witches is all I need to know to be hella hyped for this.

2. The Kingdom of Copper (Daevabad Trilogy #2) by S.A. Chakraborty

Pages: 640

I read the first book in this series during a previous round of Tome Topple and absolutely fell in love. I’ve had this on a couple of other TBRs but it’s time to finally continue on with this series!

This is a Middle Eastern inspired fantasy about Jinn and a magical walled off kingdom on the brink of war.

3. The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow

Pages: 516

I had an arc copy of this from Redhook that I wasn’t able to get to last October and ever since I’ve been putting it off. Which is a travesty since Alix E. Harrow wrote The Ten Thousand Doors of January which is an all-time favorite of mine.

So hopefully I can finally get to this witchy read!

4. Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth

Pages: 623

I have actually started this beast of a book once before. But I originally tried listening to it on audio and the format didn’t lend itself that well to audio. So I definitely need to physically read this one.

This is another book I had an arc of but never got to (mostly because it’s size had me constantly putting it off). It’s a queer, horror novel that I’ve really really good things about. I’m just intimidated. But the time has finally come. I’m determined.

Are you participating in Tome Topple this round? What are you planning to read? I’d love to check out your TBR if you’ve shared one or plan to!
