I actually had a really hard time narrowing this list down to only 5 so I’m actually recommending 6 books with a whole range of diverse characters for today’s prompt.
I’m listing the representation as I remember it – but if I missed anything or mislabeled anything, please let me know and I’ll correct it!
1. Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers
Representation: Lesbian, Bisexual, Dominican, Black, Biracial, Mental Illness
2. A Dark and Hollow Star by Ashley Shuttleworth
Representation: Non-binary (author), Trans (including xe,xis, xem pronouns) Queer (I don’t think sexuality was ever defined on page but there are multiple queer relationships)
3. Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
Representation: Trans, Non-binary (author), Latinx, Gay
4. The Henna Wars by Adiba Jaigirdar
Representation: Bangladeshi, Muslim, Lesbian, Black
5. Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan
Representation: Asian/Chinese (Author & characters), Queer/Sapphic (I cannot remember if this was every defined on page)
6. Blanca & Roja by A.M. McLemore
Representation: Pan, Trans, Queer (some non defined), Non-Binary (author), Latinx inspired (Also own-voices)
Great selection!!! I see these books everywhere and I want to read them ALL! 😅❤
