And lastly are some series I started but don’t plan to continue on with.
Heads up some of these opinions will probably be pretty controversial as there are quite a few popular series on here. I promise my opinions are not a personal attack against you or your family.
Be nice.
Feel free to let me know if you think I should give these another shot. Just know I’m stubborn and probably definitely won’t listen 😅
1. Girls With Sharp Sticks by Suzanne Young
I’ve been pretty vocal about my dislike for this sequel. And I will absolutely not be continuing on with this series. And in my head Girls With Sharp Sticks will remain a standalone.
2. Blackhawk Boys by Lexi Ryan
I really didn’t like this book so there’s no reason for me to continue on. There are way too many series I’m actually excited about.
3. Rain Trilogy by B.B. Easton
I didn’t love this first book, although I’m definitely in the minority there. So I just don’t feel a need to continue on.
4. Sinners of Saint series by L.J. Shen
I’ve officially broken up with this author. I’m over reading the same bully romance again and again, have no interest in her high school series, and hate her standalones. So it’s time for us to just part ways.
5. Wayward Children by Seanan McGuire
Compose yourself. I know this one probably hurts. But this series just didn’t do anything for me. In fact I recently discovered I never actually finished Down Among the Sticks and Bones…. 2 years ago…. and never noticed. So yeah, definitely done with this one.
6. Grishaverse by Leigh Bardugo
Another one that will probably hurt people. I DNF’d book 2 because it was boring. I didn’t care about a single character, I thought the heist was anticlimactic, and everything felt so overdone. I know there are supposed to be more books in this series as well as the Nicolai series. But I think I’m done with all of it. I enjoyed the Shadow and Bone trilogy well enough but I’m good with leaving it there. I’ve already unhauled by physical copies of this duet too.
7. Illuminae Files by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman
Another painfully unpopular opinion. This book was .. fine. It’s a really unique format but other than that it was a mediocre story with bland characters. I’ve heard from a lot of people that the next 2 books are essentially the same story so I feel no need to pick them up. This has also already been unhauled.
8. Palm South by Kandi Steiner
I’m a little sad about this one because I do love this author and this is frequently described as a Greek in book form. But man this just wasn’t for me. I tried starting book 2 after this but this series is just too much for me. It’s like the most over the top college soap opera and it’s just not for me.
9. Villains by V.E. Schwab
I know, I’m sorry I’m DNF-ing all your favorite series. But this was again a pretty big disappointment for me. Everyone raves endlessly about this book and I thought it was fine I guess. But why did it need a sequel? Pass.
10. Themis Files by Sylvain Neuvel
This is another I’m actually kind of sad about. I really loved this first book but I’ve heard from multiple reviewers that this series is all downhill from here. I don’t want my love for this first book tainted by subpar sequels. So I’m just gonna let this one lie.
Are there any series you don’t plan on finishing?? Do we have any in common?
♥♥♥♥
Oh my, I am sad that you didn’t like Wayward Children. That was one of my favourite series ever. But I get how it would be a hard one if you didn’t like that kinda thing.

It’s not that I necessarily thought it was bad, just super underwhelming. I think all of the hype built it up too much for me so I was left feeling disappointed. But the idea is super cool and unique so I can absolutely see why so many people love it!!

I never did finish the Illuminae series either. The appeal of the format just wasn’t enough to keep me entertained.

I totally agree! The format was cool but I don’t need 2 more books of it haha.
