Friday Favorites: Fake Dating Recommendations!

These are 6 recommendations with one of my all time favorite tropes – faking dating!

Normally I would do 5 books for this but I narrowed it down to six and just couldn’t bear the thought of cutting one. So you get a bonus book!

Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall

Goodreads Page

This is a British rom-com between the child of a rockstar and an uptight barrister. This book is funny, sexy, and really sweet. Not only is it fake dating – but it’s also a great sunshine/grump romance!

The main characters decide to fake date when Luc needs a steady relationship to help clean up his image and Oliver needs a date to some important events.

If you love audiobooks – definitely check this one out! The narration is fantastic.

Written in the Stars by Alexandria Bellefleur

Goodreads Page

This sapphic romance has all the best tropes – enemies to lovers, loose Pride and Prejudice retelling, sunshine/grump, and of course fake dating.

This follows Darcy and Elle who agree to fake date to appease Darcy’s brother and Elle’s overbearing family – despite their disastrous first date. The chemistry between these two is electric and the steamy scenes are everything. It also has one of the cutest grand gesture endings!

Cheesy on the Eyes by Teagan Hunter

Goodreads Page

This is a laugh-out-loud funny new adult romance by one of all-time favorite romance authors!

When Thea’s brother tries to set her up with a date for his upcoming wedding, she ropes a near stranger into being her fake boyfriend. Sully plays along on the agreement that Thea will help him fix up his boathouse. But sparks quickly fly.

And let me tell you… that auto shop scene had me 😳🔥🔥

Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey

Goodreads Page

This is a fake-dating staple!

With Tessa Bailey’s classic banter and snark, this romance follows a young woman trying to prove herself to her family and her brother’s best friend and baseball superstar.

Both of the main characters are on a mission to improve their reputations. And what better way to do so than settle down. The only problem: the line between fake and real quickly starts to blur as the the two of them fall for each other.

Bonus – the dirty talk in here is… 🔥

Fake Out by Eden Finley

Goodreads Page

I wasn’t sure how to feel about this one before going in because honestly the premise sounded a little problematic. But they way it was handled fantastic and all problematic behavior is called out on page.

This follows a college student who lied about his sexuality after feeling pressured to marry his college sweetheart. Now 5 years later, he has to attend her wedding with his boyfriend… one he doesn’t actually have.

So he bribes his best friends brother to pretend to be his date. But as their weekend together progresses, it turns out the MC might not have lied after all.

This book is quintessential fake dating!

The Deal by Elle Kennedy

Goodreads Page

Another romance staple!

This is another college romance but this one is between the popular hockey player and the smart girl.

Garrett’s GPA is plummeting and along with it his chance to play hockey and go pro. So he enlists the help of the smartest girl in class. In return, he agrees to fake date her in hopes her long time crush will finally notice her.

Definitely pick this up if you’re looking for something light, fun, and sexy!

What are some of your favorite fake dating romances?? I’d love to add some more to my TBR!
