10 Books I Meant to Read in 2020

2020 is rapidly drawing to a close and I definitely didn’t get to all the books I meant to this year.

I read far more than ever before this year. But somehow there is still a whole slew of books I had on multiple TBRs that I never actually got to.

1. My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell

This was one of my most anticipated releases of 2020 and somehow I just never got around to reading it… This was even on my 5 star predictions list. I definitely want to try and get to it next year!

2. The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune

This probably wins the award for most TBR appearances 😅 I swear I had this on at least half my 2020 TBRs… but did I even get to it? Nope… Which is awful because I haven’t heard a single negative thing about this book!

3. Old Fashioned (Becker Brothers #4) by Kandi Steiner

I really wanted to finish up this series this year! But this never came to audible escape (which has seen been discontinued) so I never got around to listening to it. It is available on KU though so I need to pick it up in the new year and see how this all wraps up!

4. Ghost Wood Song by Erica Waters

I was so excited for this book come spooky season! But my October reading didn’t go quite as planned and this book kept getting pushed to the back burner. But it sounds like something I’ll absolutely love!

5. Horrid by Katrina Leno

Another spooky-time book that I was HIGHLY anticipating. I got my copy a little later than anticipated and because of that I just ran out of time. I’m picking this one up asap though.

6. Black Sun (Between Earth and Sky #1) by Rebecca Roanhoarse

I actually started this one once! I tried listening to the audiobook but I have a hard time with high fantasy/sci-fi on audio so I was struggling to keep everything straight. I’ve since picked up a physical copy and plan to read with my eyeballs instead.

7. Well of Ascension (Mistborn #2) by Brandon Sanderson

I was originally participating in a group read of this whole series but then covid hit and the group kinda fell apart. I got about half way but I haven’t picked it back up since. I seriously just need to finish this series!

8. The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow

Another one of my most anticipated releases of 2020 that I never managed to get to… I loved this author’s previous book so I have no doubt I will love this one too. But this book is chunky. And I just haven’t had the courage to commit to another 500+ page book 😅

9. Beyond the Black Door by A.M. Strickland

This is my longest running late e-ARC. It released back in 2019 and I STILL haven’t picked it up… I honestly don’t know what’s wrong with me.

10. This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone

I totally succumbed to the hype surrounding this short novel. But somehow I never managed to actually read it – even though it’s only like 200 pages. It appeared on a ton of TBRs. Hopefully it happens in 2021.

Are there any books you wanted to read this year that you never managed to get to??

  1. I absolutely loved My Dark Vanessa-one of my favorites of the year. I hope you will love it when you get to it! And I was also a big fan of Ghost Wood Song!
I have just started Six of Crows, which I have been meaning to read all year long. Hopefully I can get through it before 2020 is over!
